2 Stroke Oil added to diesel

I thought I would post my results from adding 300ml of 2-Stroke Oil into a tank of diesel. I had a problem with a lazy egr valve causing the engine management light to come on, having read about adding 2-Stroke oil I thought I would give it a go. I am now on my second tank and the results are amazing, the egr valve fault seems to have dissapeared, the engine is quieter, smoother, and more responsive. Before the addition I was getting 24.5mpg now it is more like 28mpg quite some improvement. Thumbs Up to the RRSport Forum!

Mine is a basic TDV6 S, I would recommend you give it a go, the difference is amazing, having read all the previous threads in detail and other research on the web it all seems to make perfect sense. Basically the modern diesel fuels have been over refined to reduce emmissions and all you are doing is adding additional lubrication which can only help with friction and wear and tear and it also reduces soot. When you put your foot down it used to kick out smoke and now it never does! Let me know how you get on. Java Black

Having read a great deal about this....on here & elsewhere, I am going to give it a go!! Currently have a quite a smokey V6, a fair rattle cold, not the most responisve in the world and only getting around 23mpg with mixed driving.

Armed myself with a relatively good oil, a few measuring bottles & will trial the next 4 tanks over a 3 week period.

Will keep you all posted on this & also the repair bill costs........ Whistle Everybody is clinging on to their sanity….Some just hide it better than others….

According to Yamaha-fan on the fl2 site, the oil should be FC rated semisyntetic

Long thread over there

I have read through the entire thread started by Yamaha-Fan on the FL2 site, she sure seems to know her stuff!!

Anyway I decided to give it a try on my 2008 RRS (22,000 miles and still under warranty) and although its early days the engine noise from cold is much quieter and it seems generally quieter to drive at all times.

I was engouraged to use it more from the lubrication properties it adds to the standard diesel fuel. I cannot comment on any added improvements to fuel economy as I am on my first tank but as I do mostly short runs I do not expect to see any benefits worth mentioning.

I beleive it was mentioned that "FB" or above is suitable for vehicles without "DPF" and "FC" for vehicles with "DPF".

I purchased my 2T oil from Screwfix, its Semi- Synthetic "FC" and cost £4.49 ltr.

The mix should be 1:200 which is approx 400ml for a full tank.

Thumbs Up

Jim

Hi Yogibear, I have been using the Carlube 2-Stroke Motorcycle Oil XL, it conforms to the JASO FB standard that is suggested..
I look forward to hearing how you get on, my car is definately much smoother and kicks out no smoke at all. Very Happy

Well..have to say...I'm only doing 250ml per tank & half a tank down - all is good!! Far quieter, far smoother. Can't comment on mpg with the driving over the last couple of dauys...but if you are worried about mpg - you shouldn't have an RRS.

Oh... And zero smoke what so ever when you need to get the foot down. Wasn't heard of 150 miles ago!! Everybody is clinging on to their sanity….Some just hide it better than others….

Hi
I'm also armed and ready to give it a go.
Iv just changed my 57 tdv8 for a 59 tdv8 with 9k on the clock.
I'm going to use comma 2 stroke oil with all the bits.
As I only do short trips this time of the year, it will be a while before I report back.
