HDC System Error - Possibly Battery Related ?

Hi all

I am getting a warning on my display that their is a HDC system error and the system is unavailable when the RRS is left for a few hours / over night. The message lasts a second or 2 then clears and no fault is stored in the information display.

This has happened each day for the past week now and yesterday i also got a park brake error message but again for a second or so then gone.

Having read about this type of thing, am i right in thinking it could be the signs of a dying battery ?. If so can i recharge the existing one for a day and reconnect to fix this or is it a new battery scenario ?.

I have an automatic battery charger with overload protect so wouldn't damage it by charging all day but if its unlikely to work then there isn't a lot of point.

Thanks

Carl

New battery needed. No amount of charging it will help. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

i would check the upper tailgate switch to see if its corroded first before replacing your battery as this could be the cause of your battery problem no point in buying a new battery if its going to die again

pull the rubber seal off the upper tailgate switch if you get a small flat screwdriver into one corner and prise out then just pull the rest of it off if you have the dreaded corrosion this could be the cause of your battery dying

I had this problem last year, when I got the battery metered it was just slightly low. I was getting hdc and terrain response faults. I had it in with the dealer and they changed sensors and checked wheel alignment??? In the end it was the battery.

I had this.

Question: have you replaced a brake light bulb recently? I did with 'not a Land Rover' part, drove me nuts for 8 weeks, changed battery, bought a Hawkeye and the cause was the cheap brake light builb - used a LR one and it cleared it.

I have noticed that the problem doesnt seem to get any worse. If i leave the RRS for a week it will still start fine and the message appears then goes off within a second.

If i drive for half an hour then turn the car off, on start up immediately after stopping i get the message still. I think the battery isnt being charged Sad

One thing on a different topic, after leaving the RRS for a week my suspension had lowered to access, once i started her it rose to normal and was fine. Is this normal behaviour ?.

I haven't changed any brake light bulbs since i have purchased the car.

Thanks

Carl

I have started it up this afternoon after i went out in it last night,it seemed a bit slow at starting, various error messages flashed before my eyes, the sat nav display was flashing on and off,and it wouldn t rise to normal suspension height.I then left it running on the drive a while, turned it off locked it re-opened it again started it and the suspension raised up to normal.I have taken it out on a run and hopefully that has put it right.Over the xmas period it has only been on short runs with all the seat heaters on,lights and so forth,so i think it was prob that lot what has killed the battery. It is going in to be checked out on wednesday so hopefully it will probably need a new battery[fingers crossed] Thumbs Up 2007 HSE in black with 22 inch id ones with privacy glass.
