I agree i have used Hankook in the past and very good i also rate the Kumho brand, why pay for something that is actually over priced and no better than less expensive alternatives |

was on site at my latest venture a private equestrian centre and racing stables plenty of mud as we are excavating an all weather gallop that is perfectly level and banked to allow the horses to gallop at full pace. was through the mud and no problems whatsoever. |

Your post made me decide which tyres I wil go for. Though what makes the difference in the ride quality then? Is it the dimension? Because the with contis in 275/40/20 drives really sh*t... Cheers |

James, I am not sure to be honest. There must be some reason why "tuners" (such as OF, Hamann and others) prefer budget tyres and not the premium brands. though I have never driven any budget tyres. On sallons I have been driving the Bridgestone Touranza for couple of years now and was more than happy. On the FFRR I have contis crosscontact on also very happy. However on the RRS it is more an issue of ride quality. On the contis the car feels like driving a circuit car on local roads. And it is driving me mad |

coko TBH the tyre wall is far too narrow and therefore too stiff for the sport the air is not as forgiving over bumps as a normal suspension in my opinion. so by increasing the side wall you are giving a bit more of a cushion. TBH I felt the ride on the sport with 225/40/20 is pretty pathetic for a "luxury" vehicle and to be honest I tried not to drive it and take my ST mondeo instead which is a lot nicer to drive.

very interested in your experience with the 45 profile Hankook tyres. I too have always felt 40 profile rubber is stupid on a car of this type. One question: does it overly effect the speedo/sat nav etc due to the increased diameter? |
