Added Vibrations from larger wheels

I read that this would be an issue of I increased the wheel size on my car.

I only went from 18" to 19" but have noticed that when idling at traffic lights and in Drive, there is increased vibration directly to the steering wheel. If you knock it into Neutral, it goes away.

Can someone explain why this happens? I just can't figure out a reason.... Idea L319 D4 HSE

no its not that, it happens with ever vehicle. LR advises not to fit 20" wheels to TD6 models due to this.... L319 D4 HSE

I also had vibrations in steering wheel on 20"... then I did wheel position, wheel balance and everything OK.
Check the wheel position, its also important. RANGE ROVER, MORE THAN A CAR, LESS THAN A KITKAT

the vibration is due to your vehicle fitted with a 'non-damped' steering rack. the only way to stop it would be to replace your steering rack with a 'damped' version. not cheap!!

RR, this has been a well known problem for L322 since launch and was one of the reasons LR said that anybody running bigger than factory issue wheel/tire combos would immediately invalidate their warranty. The explanation I was given by a dealer was that with bigger wheels invariably people fit much lower profile tyres which have less
ability to absorb the engine vibes in drive, the taller rubber offering more resistance to the vibes having stiffer sidewalls. At one time this was also linked to the exploding front diffs that the 4.4V8s suffered from but was later discounted as the cause. It's like the knock in RRS's DR systems - a characteristic! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Well, I'm now using 19' wheels fitted with winter tyres and I confirm that my ride is noticeably smoother and that I feel less vibration both idling and at speed than my drive with the standard 20' with summer tyres.

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

I have wheel vibrations at 100kmh and have just had to have a new steering rack fitted. Better but not right and in a couple of weeks I am having a new rear diff.......courtesy of LR.....all on a 9 month old 10,000 highway klm car....

I daren't fit any different wheels, it could cost me a fortune of it wasn't covered under warranty. Big Cry Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

I have 22's on mine and have not experienced the same vibrations as you report. Perhaps a bit more of a choppy ride on uneven roads, but that's it. Chawton White TDV6 HSE with Alpaca and Rodium, Automatic Climate Control,
