United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi- Ive had my RRS for nearly a year now and thought Id join a forum. No, I don't need mechanical or electrical help yet! but I thought I may as well as Im keen on making the audio/visual system working through a GVIF and I guess you guys have already done this. Id say a year so far of trouble free motoring- except maybe the week I brought it - got home- Engine warning light came on- scanned it- ERG. Took it back- no problems with Barretts of Ashford- but- on the way back home after they replaced the ERG- ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON and it went into limp etc. Never did find out what was wrong- they couldn't find a thing- It all behaved after a re-boot, but I read somewhere this is not an isolated issue...Anyway, lover the car to bits.

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
New owner

HI EVERYONE,
A couple of months ago I bought a 2008 TDV8 in Java Black with Ivory trim from a main dealer in Essex.I love the car but after a couple of weeks I heard the dreaded front suspension knock, the car came with a 12 month warranty so back it went, they replaced the front lower wishbones, still the same, then they replaced the ARB bushes and links plus the updated brackets and thank god the noise has gone.
I have read lots of posts on the subject where owners have had the same work done only for the noise to return after a few thousand miles but so far so good,I have to say that the dealer(Grange Motors Brentwood) have been very good in dealing with the problem and have supplied a new courtesy car (XF Jaguar) on each occasion.
As I said I love the car but find the ride really hard,it is fitted with 274/40/20 tyres, they look good but I would like to know what size wheels and tyres I could fit for a softer ride,my car is fitted with Brembo brakes, don`t know if that makes a difference to what size wheels I can fit, anyway I have found this forum really helpful and am amazed at how many interesting subjects are covered on here any suggestions re the hard ride would be appreciated, thanks,John

Hi- from a Newbie to a Newbie- I have same size tyres- Scorpions fitted to 20'' rims. Im surprised at your comments about the ride. Is your air suspension working? you can check this by the ride height adjustment- My RRS has the best ride of any car Ive owned- It rally does feel luxury compared with my wife BN Merc e-class . My one has 51k on it now and had the front bushes replaced by Barratts before I brought it last Feb.

Thanks for the reply,
Just checked my suspension and it seems to be working fine,I am in my later years so it might just be my poor old bones playing up !! my last car was a Mercedes E Class so quite a bit different, still love my Sport though, thanks again.

Seriously- the suspension should be in no way uncomfortable- the E-Class is on springs- the RRS on air columns/ Im no spring chicken myself! The wifes on her 3rd e-class but will not use them in snow, whereas the RRS..she will sneak off in it if Im not there.

Hi, new guy here. My name is Gary. Dont currently own an RR Sport, but looking to upgrade from my Audi A4 soon. Just need to find 'the one'. This looks like the place to come for all the help and advice I need. I'm no stranger to LR, but all my experience has been on Ser 2, 3, 90, 110 with having been in the Army as a mechanic. I have to say te Td5 has had me gnashing my teeth on more than one occasion Neutral

I look forward to contributing Very Happy

Hi Gary. I've had mine a year next week, so I'm fairly new and still livin' the dream. I was just talking with my son about cars and oddly enough one of my sons has an A4 v6. Anyway...
I looked at the 04/5's at Dealers for about £15-19k and the family ganged up on me and said if you are going to get one, don't make a mistake buying from crooks..or words to that effect. So I brought mine for top dollar from a reputable Main Dealer in Ashford- £28k an 08 Hse 43k on the clock.
I too am no stranger to LR having had a RR in the 90s with the dreaded v8 and all that goes with it and. Freelander for 10 years prior to my RRS. ON A Forum such as this, I had the cheek to mention RRS and got bombarded with 'woe betides' . Basically, it's going to cost loads when it goes wrong and it will...
So I've. Renewed my warrantee at a cost of about 1200.. But it's peace of mind.
So, that's my experience.
I'm more than capable of working on cars but too close to 60 to be arsed these days!

Thanks Pat. I will have round about the 30k mark hopefully, so that should get me something nice. I'd prefer to use a dealership and that will hopefully give me better back-up should the need arise (I can almost hear the chorus of members in unison shouting 'OOOOH you reckon do ya...? Laughing )

It's a lot of money to pay for a lemon, so I'll be taking my time and making sure I find a peach.

Hi everyone,
Been on the site for quite a while now having all my many questions answerd by the magical search function on the forum. My many thanks to all of your expertise and experience.
Had to replace / repair bits and bobs along the way but never had to post a question as you all know we all have the same problems and it's usually been asked before.
It's come to the time now were I'm having to part ways with my RRS.
For rules sake I cannot post it for sale yet... Sad
So I figure I'll make myself known to everyone and hopefully build up some posts.
Appologies for my motive here guys.

Hi everyone,

Just bought a 2011 TDV6 HSE, it arrives Thursday. Traded in a 2011 Freelander2 HSE bought from new and never had a single problem, hoping for the same from the RRS.

I only dropped in to the dealer, Lakeland Landrover, while on holiday to see the new Disco Sport and wifey spotted the RRS.

We got an excellent deal and superb service. They are delivering it to Suffolk as part of the swop. Really looking forward to owning it and continuing what so far has been an excellent experience with Land Rover.
