RRS 2008 fuel tank cradle

Hi Guys

I was changing the brake pads and discs on a 08 3.6 tdv8 that I have just bought, while underneath I saw bad corrosion in the cover that goes over the fuel tank. poked around and it just holed on me.

Anyone ever replaced this? wondering if the tank will fall if I remove it?

Cheers

Gerry

Yes, that is holding the tank in place

When you unbolt the cradle, the tank will come down

Replaced loads of them, all due to corrosion

Hi Mikey

Not as bad but has a hole after I prodded around, your not far from me but my car isnt road legal yet, as I am doing work on the brakes and bodywork, is there a write up I could borrow ?

Where do you pick one of the cradles up from, Ebay?

Not sure there is a write up. Essentially, disconnect breather and filler pipes, remove front fuel pipes at filter housing, lower tank, unplug wiring and drop tank

With a ramp and a 2nd pair of hands, it can be done without dropping the tank

AFAIK, they are only available as a genuine LR part

Thanks Mike

Was hoping to avoid dropping the tank, dont want to start messing around with fuel pipes, getting scunnered already with this jeep.

Wasn't as bad as I first thought. Job done with rope and a little patience.

Did mine today, took about 2 hours with a block of wood and ratchet strap. Concerned about having 1/4 of tank of fuel left but was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Added a couple of coats of waxoyl underseal to the inside face before fitting. (Any little bit helps I guess?).

Hi

I replaced my cradle a few months ago and found this floating around the net. I found it very useful and completed the job in about five hours with the car on the ground, I've no access to a lift

Hope this helps,
