Where does it say that?

Strictly speaking, you have to tax it on or after the 15th day of the month in which your existing license or SORN expires.

This is what I was trying to do earlier.....

Where does it say that you can't retax until 15 days before?

Mine isn't due until June but I was thinking of the following years saving as well, the DVLA website tells me it is not due but lets me go on to tax it from 1/3/07 and would appear take payment. Arrived - RRSport 2016 HSE SDV6 HSE

My previous post is taken direct from my V11 form (my renewal is due at the end of March)... I can't see how you would be able to tax your car for the next few years at today's rates.

When you sell a car you are within your rights to get a refund on your Road Tax. Using this principle you can get a refund for the remaining full months of your road tax and retax your car today. Basically you will lose 1/12th of the existing road tax that you paid but save near on £200 over 2 years. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Don't think I've ever had to get a refund through sale of the car, but wouldn't the DVLA require some matchup between you saying you were selling the car and the new owner on the V5?

Of course the other thing we've failed to take into account is whether these new tax rates apply to cars registered before March 2006. Remember the last budget increase only applied to cars registered after March 2006 so like me I'm still paying £195. Anyone know? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

this is in the Treasury report....does it mean only new cars next year???

• Changes to this year’s VED rates take effect from 22 March 2007. All changes
in subsequent years take effect from licenses commencing 1 April in the
respective year. Arrived - RRSport 2016 HSE SDV6 HSE

I would expect that this new rate will apply to cars registered after March 2007 like previously but don't take my word on it. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
