Disabling Stop / Start - Solved

Looks like these guys have figured out how to disable the stop / start feature by removing one cable in the boot space.

Will try it out later but it’s one of my pet hates since moving over from BMW where’s it was disabled with some software.

there are 2 types of stop/start.

one has a small aux battery in the back and the other has a capacitor..

to disable the 'battery' version you disconnect the negative wire.....

to disable the 'capacitor' type , you disconnect the signal wire from the VQM..

Does the AUX battery only supply power to the stop/start? 2016 Yulong White L494 AB/DYN 3.0SDV6

I believe it just keeps the systems alive whilst stopped, the main one still starts the car. It also seems more intelligent than Disco4 versions and wont stop if the car isn't warmed up and a bundle of other criteria. Joined the X5 45e club

With this being my first Range Rover I wonder if I’m missing something that I’ve never noticed?? Would the car still run fine without the aux battery? Mine seems to be! The cable that disables stop/start is still plugged in but I don’t recall stop/start ever working. Would there be some sort of alert? Embarassed Embarassed 2016 Yulong White L494 AB/DYN 3.0SDV6

Do you have the symbol in the left clock, think it’s A with trike through? What messages come up if you switch it off and on again? The only thing that the stop star5 battery does is keep things alive, it will start, stop and run fine without it. Joined the X5 45e club

Yes when I press the button the light comes on and off on the Center console and also in the left clock get a message saying start/stop on or off. 2016 Yulong White L494 AB/DYN 3.0SDV6

Assuming it starts with no problem, I would hazard a guess you need a new stop start battery, it’s the small one under right hand panel in the boot. If you change it, it won’t work immediately, you will a short run to get up to temperature and charge it. Joined the X5 45e club

So replace the battery, check stop/start works then immediately pull the plug on stop/start because of how annoying it is haha
Thanks for the advice, any chance you have a picture of this battery? 2016 Yulong White L494 AB/DYN 3.0SDV6
