I reckon a Waxoyl type treatment is an excellent idea, especially if you're planning on keeping the car for a while/forever.

In the end, I also went for the oversized number plate on my new one, which is standard fit. I was going to ask for a regular sized one but my wife overruled me! She said the proportions are better on a large tailgate.

It seems so, he's popped up on a few threads and seems to be well thought of. Who knows what lies ahead but clearly the exemplary care the original owner took of the car has stood it in good stead

I need to get some costings from him for the waxoyl treatment but seems a good investment.

I think between you and I your wife might be right I have come to appreciate the relative size of the plate compared to the car.
