Cranking, ie turning the crank. The starter turns the car engine over so the engine is spinning but won’t start. If you try and start the engine but it just clicks, grinds, but doesn’t spin, it’s not cranking. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

You'll pay way more than 3k for an engine supplied and fitted. Really hope it isn't that. 2 new turbos supplied and fitted was near 4k at an indy specialist, never mind main dealer.

Fuel pump issue, at least it not the crank.

Can you get it onto a Land Rover diagnostic tool? The IID BT tool is good.

Take a look at the fuel pump relay. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Agreed, its a fuelling issue.

Either lack of fuel, or lack of air. Try removing the top intercooler hose, to rule out a restriction in the inlet side

Otherwise, its potentially a fuel supply issue, or HPFP issue...

Thanks for the speedy reply, feel like a ton as been lifted off of me, independent range rover speacialst scared the living Censored out of me saying new engines etc, how could they miss this issue. Got a freind coming up tomorrow who is a mechanic at Merc, the car as not been serviced for quite a bit and he said he will start with that. Any pointers what he should start with first and then what ever next thank you

If it’s not been serviced in a long time, download the check sheet from topix (there maybe a copy on the site in someone’s profile) and ask him to perform all the checks and fluid changes. Also ask him to check the fuel pump relay and if he can, check for fuel pressure from the pump. I suspect you may need a new pump and relay. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Will do thank you, well my mate couldn't make it he had to do somthing with his bird, so I've had a little look and seen 2 videos on changing the fuel filter doesn't look hard at all, looks very simple would to be possible that I could do this myself? Also could it be possible the reason it ain't working is down to the wiring on the fuel filter? Thank you.

I don’t think the filter will have any wiring but it would be worth replacing if it hasn’t been serviced in a long time. If you mean fuel pump, I think there may be 2, one in the tank and one else where. The one in the tank is bound to be a PITA, because of where it is and how to get to it.

Try pulling the relay and trying another (could be the same type on another system you can swop out) or listen to see if you can hear it switching. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Did you ever solve this problem and if so what was the outcome.
My sport is doing the same as what you have described yours doing. Had the same fault codes to.

The original post is 5 years old, I think it unlikely you will get a response now from the O.P, but you may be lucky.

Cheers

Mine was the chain on the inlet on the passenger side broke. It a small chain that does the inlet cam not the main one that goes to the crank that’s why the engine was spinning ok still.

Hi Paul, thanks so much for your reply. I suppose a broken cam chain is better than a broken crank!!

I just rebuilt the engine, and reused the cam chains, but they seemed OK at the time, so hopefully that is not it, but not the end of the world if it is the problem.

Thanks again, Neil
