I did Cotswolds to Yorkshire in Feb with no battery and got 40 mpg - it should do better in warmer weather and if starting with a full battery

I drove a Tesla Model X yesterday. OMG It makes just about every other car available look like a dinosaur except the BMW I8...

But even though its range is good (500km) I have 3 issues to overcome:

1) I think I would still get range anxiety because unless at a special charging station, it can take a while to charge. Its irrational because I don't drive far.

2) It doesn't make a nice noise

3) I am not interested from an environment point of view so its hard to justify other than its cool

I've driven the Tesla S and have a drive in an X coming up. Problem for me is the severe lack of dealerships - in Scotland 1 and then the next nearest is almost a complete charge up away in Manchester....... But there are loads of them in Central Scotland, they do look rather like a large Ford Mondeo though, so hard to notice from the front 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I considered a Tesla but nearest charging stations are Wetherby/Leeds and nearest dealer is Manchester

Like BKHK range anxiety was a concern even though I rarely go far - add to this reports of Tesla having cash flow issues I wasn't prepared to spend all that money and lose it if they collapsed - been there with MG/Rover and in no rush to repeat it

The Mitsy was a cheap option to test the water with the benefit of petrol for the long runs but I do miss having a luxury interior - I would consider Volvo XC60/90 phev and maybe iPace in future if I can get over range anxiety

Youngest son passed his driving test last week so going to look at a Yaris Hybrid for daughter then he can have her Punto - eldest son owned her Punto first - we like to recycle too

I'd love a Tesla, but the removing of the inclusive supercharging earlier this year really does dent the economics of owning one, so you really have to want to save the environment IMO.

Also, a model X is nudging £100k over here , and I'd rather have a Vogue on the driveway, regardless of the whizzy tech in a Tesla.

Having seen the other post on here about the Volvo XC90 T8, I think that's one of the strongest contenders for us at the moment when we come to chop in the GL. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
