Gearbox oil contamination

Hi, my RRS has had what I think is the torque converter shuddering under load for a while, and I'm starting to think about a replacement gearbox. I spoke to a couple of knowledgeable transmission specialists, who say it is probably just the TC, but there could also be some damage to the output shaft, which they can't diagnose until the gearbox is out. Which is fair enough.

Either way, I thought I had read somewhere that there was a possible problem causing gearbox oil contamination, as the engine coolant radiator and gearbox rad are one unit, and someone had found engine coolant in the gearbox oil, causing the TC problem.
I can't find where i read this, and was wondering if I should replace the rad, before getting the gearbox fixed?

Anyone else have experience of this?

almost all cars have the gearbox cooler and rad in the same unit.

It's not a particular common issue on the RRS. Think I heard one occurrence!

You would be better off changing the gearbox oil if you haven't already.

or the gearbox specialist will advise rad replacement if necessary

OK, thanks.

It's had a couple of full flushes in the last 3 years, still the same. Sad

If short of Money you can add dr. Tranny which may stop it.

Other you could try a rebuild place in bristol

Thanks, I did contact them (Bristol Transmissions), as they are not too far. A new one is £3K, which on a car worth £4K maybe £5K makes you think for a while.

I do have a couple of tubes of Dr Tranny, which I may try if it gets worse. (Currently you don't notice it a lot of the time.)

Malaysia

Had this last year when the car had done 120,000 miles. It would judder slightly between 1800-2300 rpm. Nothing else would fix it other than a new torque converter.
