that could be the kiddy!
I was trying to recall what else would cause no power, the Megafuse in that block is certainly a good shout if there's no power. Bodsys Brake Bible

The big fuse is the mega fuse. Is that the one you mean? That's something silly like 400A Shocked

Edit: Bodsy beat me to it! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Well I guess that is one for the L R garage as don't know where to quickly get one.

On P38's you fit a spare fuse in the drivers seat fuse box which makes the transfer box go into neutral, I think you do a similar thing on the RRS/D3 it tells you what to do in the owners manual.

Nothing in the manual on this and nothing about a drivers seat fuse box either so confused on this one.

I suspect that neither will LR!

I've got the recovery pages and you need battery connection. It could be that you use a piece of wire to very temporarily bridge it to release the Park mode.

The Sorry Story so Far. 08.30 first breakdown lorry arrives but as expected could not dis-engage the auto gearbox to neutral or disengage the Electronic brake. Puzzles over it for a while and says we are going to need a much bigger breakdown lorry that can either lift the car or winch it physically on board. ( luckily only wanted €20 to cover fuel as he had not come far.) He recommended a large truck from La Rochelle. An hour later a very knowledgeable guy arrives with a huge breakdown truck convinced that we had somehow missed something and it would be easy. Checks voltages etc and earth which are all ok. By this time I had spent some time on the phone to Hunters Guildford saying that they needed to tell me how to release the gearbox as this was costing me a lot of money with none of the breakdown companies knowing how to do it. They finally told me that I needed to prise off the plastic trim which houses the gearstick and gearbox switches etc. Underneath this under the actual gear lever is a white plastic small lever which one has to gently lever out whilst putting the gear lever into neutral - so far so good and something to remember. I had already thought I had released the electronic brake by pulling up on the emergency cable under the brake lever housing but it seemed this had not worked. The driver/mechanic tried but nothing happened and the rear brakes were locked. (A lot of force was applied to this but no avail - LR take note.) So we now have a 2.5 ton vehicle with no electrics no way for the lorry to back up to it (not enough room) the rear brakes locked and the front steering locked over to the right. A nightmare. The driver of the breakdown van was amazing and gently winched the rear end round at an 110 degree angle without damaging the paint work. He watched my face and suggested I look the other way so as not to stress him. As he was effectively dragging the car sideways it was a difficult manoeuvre. Once he was roughly in line with the rear of the truck he had to angle the rear platform so the car would come up at an angle as the front wheels were locked over to the right. After about every 6" he would get me to stand on the foot brake whilst he released the winch cable and twisted the rear of the track a little to correct the way the car was being winched on. Halfway up the truck platform the rear wheels unlocked although still had the problem with the front wheels locked at an angle. Cutting a long story short the actual winching took 1.5 hrs. We then followed him to the LR dealer in La Rochelle who was amazed how he had got it to them. It then took them about 45 minutes to get it off the truck. €400 which includes the earlier €20 for the failed attempt the car is now at LR La Rochelle for inspection so that I can report back to Warranty Direct what is wrong and they decide if they will pay for the repairs or have the car taken back to the UK. The breakdown we have no cover for so had to pay for this.
I think LR need to look at this as in many respects I was lucky I could borrow a car and I was relatively near a LR main dealer. It still took 2 days to recover with great difficulty due to everything on the car being locked up. This is totally unacceptable. In contrast 5 years ago with a Mercedes E320 CDi estate we had a front spring go. The car was 5 years old and out of warranty. Mercedes picked the car up from the Alps took us with the car to a hotel and paid for us in the hotel for three nights whilst the car was repaired. (three nights as it was a week-end) Obviously we paid for the repair but that is all. Mercedes have lifetime Europe wide assistance provided the vehicle is serviced by an authorised dealer and the service book is up to date. As this is my second incident with a 2011 car with 32,000 miles and treated really carefully it does not take much imagination to know what the future holds for me and LR. Be interesting to find out what the fault is, cost of repair and how Warranty Direct perform. I am hoping they are as good as they were previously. Will report back when I know what the fault is.

Just spoken to Warranty Direct to keep them in the loop as I know from past experience not to do anything without their authority. They confirmed that providing I am not out of the country for more than 100 days then they cover repairs covered out in Europe (see page 14 of the policy booklet) Tonight they are now saying that if it is something major then we must repatriate the car at our cost to the UK for them to inspect. Hardly a good way of covering one for European travel.

I am not getting a good feeling about all this.

Thanks Rob - nothing can be done until LR La Rochelle stick a diagnostic test on it. What upset me was I spoke to Hunters at least 6 times trying to emphasise the issue. I appreciate they can do nothing remotely but when I am told that I do not need to know how to put the gearbox in to neutral the breakdown guys will all know that really pxxxxd me off. I am reasonable technical/competent and even if not it would have saved a lot of time on behalf of the breakdown engineers and my mobile phone costs to have told me and I could have told the engineers here. As it happens I took the gear lever console off and disengaged the gear lever.

My love affair is nearly over - just not sure what to replace her with. I appreciate cars break down but a total lock down that locks everything down so the car cannot be physically moved is not acceptable.

I think Pete of LR customer service should be liaising with LR La Rochelle to determine the fault and pass it back to the engineers because I pity anyone this happens to again - and it will once one person has had the problem. For my penny worth I hate electronic brakes they are always causing problems.

This is one reason I recommend people get the LR warranty if the vehicle is eligible. They just deal with it all and give you a loan car too. Sure, others are cheaper but that isn't always a good thing.

Hopefully your issue will be one of those "simple to sort even though it was a nightmare at the time" things that Land Rovers seem to like to try our patience with. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Still in LR La Rochelle waiting for a diagnostic report to decide what next. I am going to going to go in there tomorrow afternoon to find out what is happening.

I will update this forum on the full outcome including how Warranty Direct respond.

L R garage were reluctant to tell me how to get it out of drive for the recovery truck to winch it onboard. They said the recovery people will know how to disengage drive. One wonders how one would tow a car like this?

Seems like the problem is because the car is in Drive. No car will start if drive is selected itisme
