LED Lighting

Following advice on the site I changed my interior bulbs for LED ones today and what a difference it makes. Changes the look and style of the car and appears to make it look more 'modern' than the standard bulbs.
I can actually see across the whole boot now!

A very inexpensive but effective mod.

Hi Hugh, no problem, the interior ones were
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110954337674?ssP...1423.l2649
which are UK Stock 10X T10 8 LED 3528 SMD NO Error W5W 194 Car CANBUS White Light Bulbs
as I didn't want ones that were too bright, however in the boot, I put
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150931319404?ssP...1423.l2649
which are 2 x ERROR FREE CANBUS W5W T10 501 LED SIDE LIGHT BULB 13 SMD
which is a 13led bulb as I wanted the brightness this would give and I have to say I'm not disappointed.

(Never posted links before so if they don't work get back to me)

It's the little things that make all the difference Thumbs Up

I have done the same to my Disco 3, and it makes a huge difference, makes it feel more "modern"
There are a lot of bulbs to change though, 13 for the interior alone (on an HSE) IIRC

I replaced 18 with LED bulbs:
3 x front ceiling dome
2 x front footwells
2 x 2 x sunvisors (different type)
4 x door puddle lights
2 x rear "map reading" lights
1 x boot
2 x rear reg plate

Didn't do the side lights in headlamp unit.

Not really. I bought multipacks off eBay. The total was defo < £25 and I've still got a few spares left (e.g. 6 of the sunvisor kind). Will try and find the original threads for you.

Edit - here:

And it was 19 lights actually ... forgot the glovebox.

Almost a year and not one has failed Thumbs Up

I decided to just do the
4 x puddle lights
2 x footwell lights
1 x glovebox light
3 x front courtesy/map lights
= pack of ten @ £7.99

Rarely, if ever, do I have anyone in rear seats so decided to leave these lights alone at the moment and possibly replace later if at all. It would have been different if they came on with the rest of the lights but as they don't, I didn't do them.

Decided not to replace the vanity mirror lights because I thought the LED's might be too bright (although I know they are smaller LED's) but also because I thought the existing bulbs might give a 'softer' light.

I do stand to be corrected on this though and if someone can tell me they're definitely better, I'll listen and think about replacing them. Cheers
Brian

Brian, spot on about the vanity mirror lights. They ARE too bright and the Mrs. complains every time she has to look into them. I have left the LEDs in anyway just for consistency (or stubbornness, depending on who is talking Laughing ).

I changed the rear interior lights as I always have 2 very demanding passengers in the rear seats that used to force me to stop and find the stuff they kept losing in the dark/dim lights.

I find a properly illuminated luggage compartment quite useful too.
