The rear latch switch gets corroded, it is a alloy hinge when the rubber in between the numberplate lights is pressed it pushes onto a micro switch. when the hinge part corrodes it does not move so does not press micro switch. You need to take the unit out from beneath the number plate panel and clean it up or replace it to get the top tailgate to open. Then you can access the eight screws to take the outer cover off to check connections. New switches on ebay about £25 itisme |
