The Homelink UK site says that lots of car mfrs install it in their cars.... I'm assuming that the list isn't simply copied from the US site in that respect - but the usual suspects: Audi, BMW, Porsche, VW, Alfa, Lexus and a few more... I must admit I've never seen a car in the UK with built-in homelink controls. I'm sure the only electric gates I've ever passed through have been with a little keyfob as above...

Maybe this is worth running past LR CS?

I've connected a few 'homelink' systems up to our control systems - just a matter of synchronising them, however it is a pain in the a**e - it can take a while for it to get working - once connected, I believe its fine - never had the customers come back to us yet Confused

The Homelink frequency is different to UK authorised ones, although I know a few people that bought receivers in Sears whilst visiting the US.......in which case it will work. Hormann is pretty much the standard over here and they do 3 different sized remotes including one that has four programmable buttons.

Last car, I bought the US remote package and changed the bits with UK ones, it worked – but really did take some time and I certainly won’t be doing it again. A bit of double sided tape just to the right of monitor and it works just fine.

Good luck! 'Razz' .

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.

I have the Homelink option in my RRS and also a Hormann garage door. The problem is I cannot get the one to speak to the other, programming the Homelink transmitter is a real pain and any advice would be much appreciated.

After many attempts following the RRS manual instructions nothing happens, so tried resetting the Homelink to try again.
Press the two outer buttons until the light flashes it says, pressed until my arms were falling off and still no flashing light.

Has anyone ever managed to get Homelink to actually control a Hormann garage door opener, if so please explain what you had to do to achieve this? Big Cry

Personally I don't keep my remote in the car .... have seen too many cars stolen that potentially wouldn't have been if the thieves hadn't been able to open the garage and gates and simply drive out !

Stephen, I am referring to the Homelink remote which is built into the rear view mirror, it is an option on the 2011 RRS. As Tim says I'm not concerned about theft in this case, I just want to be able to use the built-in remote for my own convenience as opposed to carrying the Hormann remote.

Success! After much fiddling I have managed to get the Homelink in the RRS to control the garage door and outside lights.

This works with the grey remote with blue buttons, 868MHz type.

1. Ignore the instructions in the drivers manual.
2. Reset the Homelink by holding both outside buttons as per instructions (they got that bit right).
3. Hold the remote so the long edge near to the remotes button area is touching the Homelink just behind the three buttons (it will be nearly horizontal) then press the open/close button and the chosen Homelink button until the red light flashes faster or your arm aches. Try moving the remote around the area if no luck. If this fails try using the opposite long edge of the remote.
4. If your opener requires a rolling code you will need to press the red button attached to the opener on the receiver. Mine had a cable about 500mm long with a black box at the end. The black box has a short thin wire aerial at one end and near that is the red button.
5. Press the red button and within 10 seconds (some assistance helps here) press the chosen button on the Homelink for three seconds, release and do the same thing again.
6. If you're as lucky as me that should be it, you do need to press the button for three or more seconds to get the door to move by the way. Mr. Green

Hope this helps.
