Shocked !! (meant only for us tall guys)

I am shortly leaving for a trip to Italy and need to transport a very long piece of furniture. I own my RRS for a bit more than year but til now there has never been a need to fully fold down the rear seats.

My first try was a bit of a struggle but after having consulted the manual (first move the front seats forward before folding the rear benches and then move the front seat back again) I have managed to have the rear seats out of the way. So I get back into the drivers seat, hit the memory button but would you believe, the seat gets stuck about half way back. The simple reason is that the folded bench does limit the range of the movement of the front seat. Obviously for shorter guys this is not an issue but for us tall lads it's a disaster. I am 6"3 and there's simply no way for me to find a half acceptable seating position with the rear seats down... Twisted Evil How on earth does LR think should I drive for six/seven hours squeezed in the seat like a sardine. Evil or Very Mad

This is a really bad joke by LR's designers or better call it a disaster. Mind you this is actually the first time ever I am having second thoughts about the car. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

Roland, I'm sure life presents many challenges for you taller fellas, as indeed the same for shorter men and ladies, I suppose in vidication to the car manufacturer's, they only have limited tolerances with which to work to and reluctantly forced to focus primarlly on Mr and Mrs Average? To cater for extremes would compromise design and, in reality, probably prove to be a practicable impossibility, I suspect? Confused

Having said that, 6' 3" is hardly a giant these days and you'd have though a big rugid 4x4 would've been a bit more accommodating! Just dont swop it for a smart car! Whistle MY12 SDV6 HSE Sumatra/Ebony/Piano/Sidesteps/Privacy/Overfinch Olympus/JLR DRLs

Yes, I am a short 6'1" and also find the driving position quite uncomfortable when the seat behind mine is folded down. It's bearable for short hops, but I couldn't take long trips that way, my legs would definitely cramp up. Whenever I have long objects to haul back there, I always hope I can get away by just knocking down the rear seatback section behind the passenger seat. Unfortunately for LH drive cars, that only clears 1/3 of the rear seat. Sad

Another problem I have with the rear seats: Have you tried raising (or lowering) those three headrests? If you haven't done it in a while, you better eat your Wheaties.

Beeing 194 cm myself I have noticed same problem. Haven't tried, but maybe removing the headrest on the backseat before folding would provide more space for the front seat to slide backwords. 2010 RRS TDV6 3,0, Bali Blue/Tan/Anigre/Dynamic Pack/Logic7/Keyless entry/Paddle

I fully agree Roland, it's the inbred agricultural cousin, and, with the FFRR looking like it's eaten all the pies, there's only one good-looking and sexy LR to buy..., the RRSport!!! Thumbs Up MY12 SDV6 HSE Sumatra/Ebony/Piano/Sidesteps/Privacy/Overfinch Olympus/JLR DRLs

Its not the best design, when you cant put the seats right the way back, im 6'5" i bought some furniture and dropped the rear seats in the sport, my drivers seat wouldnt go back all the way either, but i could recline the seat back a little which did make driving a bit easier, but i wouldnt have liked to drive a very long distance.

Out of all the cars ive owned, the cars that have seats that drop down never give enough room for the drivers seat to go all the way back, not just L/R some of my Previous cars

That's very true Envoy. After all, these are cars, and, if you want move furniture, get a furniture van. If they were intended to ferry goods about, they wouldn't look good and who wants to buy a transit van? Hope that makes sense? If it does, please tell me what the hell I've just said! Many Thanks!
