2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Buckingham Blue

Hi Kam, thanks for the welcome. I do like the RRS very much.

I think the dealer was eager to sell a minimum quantity of RRS in Taiwan, so that they can economically sustain their operation.

With import duty & other taxes, RRS 4.2SC costs about US$ 125,000. It also has to compete against well established X5, ML, Toureg, X90C models. So, I don't think they will sell more than 100 RRS in a year, unless they bring in the TDV6.

I am just hoping that reliability & quality will not be a problem with my RRS.

If you do have problems, is it going to be difficult for you to get to the LR dealer? Is there much of a LR dealer network in Taiwan?

No, it shoudn't be a problem, because LR actually setup a subsidiary company to act as marketing organization. Sales and service go thru Ford distributor with independent LR show rooms.

Just posted some more photos of the "unique" black piano wood panels. I asked the dealer to return them to the original Cherrywood panels, but dealer was only able to do the sides, and not the center console. Dealer said they wanted to wait for UK technician to come to Taiwan to do that part.

Also posted some photos of the painted rear view mirrors. Dealer did that for free. Not really as shiny as the body paint, but better than the original black plastic I think.

Redtarga, in photo number 5 in your posting what is the label to the left of the gear selector? Looks like it has some sort of numbers on it?

Belay last question, I have magnified the photo and see what it is - Taiwanese Characters for the gears and Commandshift!

Hi Mark H,

1. There are plenty of threads here re mpg, so please use search for those.
2. Do not tow myself, but some here do.
3. Dealer service can range from pi** poor through to very good (as with most marques).

I have a TDV6 myself and can only recommend it. Take a look through some of the existing threads here to see how happy people tend to be with their cars. Good luck! Smile

31mpg is actually higher than average even for the diesel. You can expect 24-27mpg in real life.

Hi all,

Thanks for your comments.

Hopefully the Black Piano Wood will be re-stored back to the original Cherrywood next week by an UK technician visiting Taiwan next week.

Personally I think that LR should think about offering 1/2 painted mirrors, becasue it is better looking than just black plastic.

It is a very tight squeeze to get the RRS into my garage, but I still have about 10 cm on each side of the mirror when I come through the main gate. Land cost is quite high here, so space is premium and used for people instead of cars.

Hope to take the RRS into the mountains and try out some of its off-road capabilities when I get back from my upcoming business trip.

Hi Mark: The towing capacity is not the biggest question, rather, check the tongue weight. You might be able to tow whatever you want but I found that the tongue weight is a bit limiting - something to do with the air suspension. Good luck. '06 RRS HSE Chawton White/Alpaca Lux/PTI/Sirius

Hello Everybody,

I have been a Range Rover fan for a long time, now more than ever with the new Jaguar engine. I will forewarn everyone, that I do own my own Internet business that offers upgrades for several vehicles. I will try to keep my solicitation to a minimum.

I will however, offer some technical advice from time to time, as I do on other forums. I have been a Technician for 15 years and have been modifying them for some time also (I can't really leave anything alone).

Let me know if I can help with anything. Very Happy

Kind Regards,

Mike
