I Have fitted the dab+ this evening, I would say paying the extra for the converter adapter is worth it because the instructions state the + green cable on the left needs switching to the right pin on the new adapter, But looking at the module when fitted the left is black so the instructions could be confusing for some and easy mistake to possibly blow the module, Also the crimping and pushing pins and cutting wire is not needed so if i was to do it again then get the adapter it would be a plug and play 100% then,

Now unfortunately i still have the same gremlins as before so i did disconnect the battery terminals and bridge the cables, I did find when reconnected i did loose all fm stored stations and had to retune as expected but i noticed the dab saved stations were still there so i dont think that module was fully reset, Maybe the dab modules have capacitors so i think i will disconnect battery terminals again at some point overnight to give all ecu’s more time to lose all stored power, Unless theres some sort of coding that needs to be done but if that was the case im sure the guys selling the adapters etc would mention it as part of the dab to dab+ upgrade.

There are some DAB settings in the CCF files, I can't actually remember what they are though, only that as they don't actually have DAB radio here only in a few cities, I did turn mine off in the ccf files, so there may be some setting in the CCF that you may need to configure when upgrading, as I say I don't know for sure only a suggestion but might be worth a look.

Cheers

Not sure if this is of any relevance or not if upgrading.

DAB+

Hello,

I bought a DAB+ module from an eBay shop that has refurbished and has had its software updated, It's meant to turn up tomorrow, I bought the retrofit wiring pins and plug (cheaper of the 2 options Jonny mentioned).

I know in the instructions it tells you to swap out the negative and the positive with one another to make it work, which I'll do when I've removed and cut the wires to the loom currently on the car.

When looking on GAP iid, the CCF files on mine, don't show DAB module installed, but satellite radio, which must be OK, as everything works ok up to now.

The starting up and the station not locking on happens on mine also, instead of what Jonny said he does, I just press over to another station and back to the one I want again and it locks on, I think its normal? Mine does that even with the latest software installed on the current standard DAB module.

I have read like, everyone is saying that the terminals are touched together, I usually hold the positive and negative together for 30 seconds or so, so as to drain and residual voltages or whatever down. These Land Rovers mind you have a mind of their own, so I guess it can only help to try to reset it.

I have an Invery for streaming music from my iPhone, but that tends to work as it wants to, it'll sometimes allow me to go back to the start of a track, but not allow to go forward, then sometimes it'll work as it should, the volume up and down always works. I guess being an old system 15 years old in my case (2010), they are very glitchy systems in these cars.

I don't think I want the hassle of swapping out or piggy backing an Apple car play system, as mine is the earlier systems before they went more user friendly on the 2012 models.

I'll do the plug and DAB+ module fit at the weekend and report back, but by the sounds of it its a decent mod.

Cheers Dean

I've just received my connector kit. They've written on the connector for which wire goes where.

I'm assuming this is the same as yours Jonny ?

Many thanks

My connector has been wired up exactly like that. It could be a little confusing working out what wire goes left and right, depending on which way up the connector block is, but I had no issues and the pictures were very clear.

Just re-checked my pics and that appears to be the wrong way round ! I think you may have a stray connector there. I'll re-check mine a little later, as I need to replace some clips.

The seller I bought mine from was ‘crap jokes’.

The pictures within the instructions were pretty straight forward from the initial read through?

I was lead to believe the black and green were meant to end up swapped over?

So….

Have we worked out the correct orientation yet?

The push down retaining bar facing you at the top.

Which colour left and right.
