My Carplay is an entirely different unit but to get sound from the system I had to insert a dummy plug into the Aux port and then select Aux from the Audio menu.

Yes, all the original screen controls are there except NAV,

It is basically an earphone plug with the wires connected together as far as I can tell.

It may be different but on the idcore if I remember right you had to plug a lead from the unit into a 3.5mm jack plug to get sound through the speakers via Aux, initially I used the jack plug under the flap in the rear before I wired it in to the harness.
