Disco_Mikey

Hello,

I’m trying to get hold of Disco_Mikey to ask about epb module issues I have since yesterday.

I’ve read his procedure about the epb being ceased, but don’t think mine is yet, as I can’t still work the epb, but does screech a little. I’ve ordered a full overhaul rear brake kit - calipers x2, discs, pads, shoes and hardware, so going to fit all that and readjust everything and start from scratch, using the bodsy brake bible.

Was just wanting clarity on how the epb functioned and if what symptoms I have are saveable.

I tried phoning his business number but doesn’t ring out?

Can anyone help, maybe he’ll see this message or someone could give him a nudge for me.

Cheers Dean

He has a business to run.

He doesn’t have time to give advise on epb issues.

Thanks to his PA, that answered that question.

If it’s just screeching then you could probably just adjust the shoes. You definitely want to follow the instructions word for word, including adjusting the wedge and torquing it to spec. I’d discontinue using the parking brake now before it seizes, that’s a can of worms you really don’t want to open. On the meantime if the brake comes on automatically when you stop the engine take the fuse out to stop it working, if it jams you will have a major job.

Ehup

I used Bodys and got advice from NoExpert Thumbs Up , just follow the instructions on set up and mine worked a treat after completing

Adjusting the little wedge on set up and torquing correctly certainly assisted me

Hope it goes well

I just recall his post on his epb unjamming
Guide.

If one more person rings me up to ask about epb unjamming, I will delete it. Etc etc

I followed bodsy’s guide to the letter, worked a treat.

I replaced everything on the back end - callipers, hoses, discs, pads and shoes.

The wedge, you mean loosening the small cap screw half a turn, tapping the disc with a mallet to bed in the mechanism and torquing (I tightened accordingly) afterwards?.

I removed the fuse as people had said, luckily the EPB wasn’t seized, maybe due to the fact a previous owner had replaced with a new genuine LR EPB back in 2022.

As for Mikey, yes he has a business to run, but he does promote himself as mingling with the public and doing jobs on the side, I’d hoped he might be contactable possibly.

I did speak with Ian Bodsworth, who is a really nice chap and very helpful, I can’t thank him enough!

All ok now, just got to sort the front end - I’m considering upgrading to 6 pot Brembos from a 5.0 SC, as mine is a 3.6 TDV8 2010 Autobiography and would be in keeping with the facelift look. Only place I can find is eBay at £800 for a pair as I don’t have a set to swap out, so have to lose out on b the £300 surcharge.

Cheers Dean

Eh up, glad you got it sorted, yes I meant that adjustment on the cap screw. I painted mine orange so I could spot the dam thing😂

NoExpert pointed this out to me when I did mine, 8 months on no issues at all, Thumbs Up

Hello,

Yes, everything ok so far, been away in the caravan since, everything normal operating temp on brakes, bedding pad in nicely.

Just need to sort the fronts with 6 pots preferably.

Re the six pot Brembos - I think it was Col who said there’s not much difference in stopping power between 4&6 pots. (Happy to stand corrected Col !).

I got a pair of 4 pot Brembos off eBay for £30 plus postage. Soda blasted for £80. Fitted new pistons and seals for around £60 and then etch primed and high build primed them for £15.

Some sanding down and got them painted and lacquered for £40.

I now have brand new looking and functioning 4 pots with stickers etc for approx £235. Whilst the 6 pots look meatier I doubt you’ll notice or appreciate any extra stopping power.

Just my 2p worth for an alternative solution.

If you look on LR Time he shows how to remove and repair it. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.
