MY23/24

Looking at a few and interested in views especially around the removal of buttons, I quite like the buttons. Also doesn't appear to be linked to reg plate as some 24 have old style and some 73 have new. Any other changes worthy of note that would mean newer is better ?

If you're going PHEV, the newer MY24 models have a different electric motor which will give more power and more range (supposedly). 2023 P440e Dynamic SE

Hi,

The “clean” centre console is a 24MY “thing” not plate related.

My 24MY was an Oct 23 (73plate) registration.

Older stock may have been hanging around.

Is it worth it….yes(ish).

I miss being able to push the terrain button then two clicks left for “dynamic” mode, it was quick and easy, the touch screen is easy to , just not as intuitive.

Everything else via the touchscreen is good, it takes a while to set up most of your basic settings but once setup, I rarely need to change much.

The large screen (Pivi) compared to the twin screen (ICTP) is a vast improvement.

Just picked up a 73 plate MY24 and was very nervous about losing the dials , in fact I almost pulled out of the deal once I realised, however I need not of worried , the temprature works very well on the screen , On a loan car I was pressing the temprature display to get the adjustment arrows up, but you don't need to do this, you just touch the screen and slide your finger up or down all in a single touch so just as quick and easy as dials.

Heated seats takes one press to get the screen up and then another to adjust, so two clicks but it took two clicks with the dials and so it's almost as easy.

What really is a PITA is the seat controls on the door and the seats as well. You have to almost dislocate your wrist or elbow to be able to get your hand on them Sad The seats themselves while much softer than the l494 seats , they lack under thigh support and it feels like you are sliding out of them even with the rear as low as it goes and the front at full height.

One benifit of MY24 is you get 'Country Lane Assist' otherwise the only difference on a diesel I think is the removal of dials and as said the new sat nav/ screen is really good Smile MY24 Dynamic SE,MY21 HSE Silver, MY20 SQ7, MY 18 RRS HSE Dynamic , MY 16 RRS Autobiography now gone & MY 2005 Discovery 3 HSE that I will be buried in !

Thanks all, that’s encouraging, feared the screen only option would be a nightmare. Just need to find one with a towbar that isn’t black (love black it doesn’t love me). Will be diesel hse dynamic so well spec’d doesn’t need any options as far as I can see.

Chips,

What is this “country lane assist” you speak of?

I live in the country and we don’t have lines to follow!!

The LKA limitations in the iGuide/handbook states that it doesn’t work on lanes narrower than 3m or wider than approximately 4m…..I.e “country lanes”.

Another critical difference between 23MY/24MY is that 23MY was only available with the shocking base sound system. 24MY saw the return of 3D and Signature.

Have to admit I’ve not noticed the “Country Road” lane assistance on my April 24 car, though living in the sticks I doubt it will work too well - I generally turn it off unless I’m on a major road where it can be useful. Nearly all the functions onscreen like volume and temperature actually operate with a swipe up or down, so are very simple to use in practice.

The audio sounds like a biggie, can you tell visually or is it “has only screen and no dials means better audio”

Not sure - mine says Meridian Surround on it if that helps? D/door tweeter box still rattles though🤬

Correct. You need the front door tweeters and the rear door labels to say ‘Meridian 3D Surround’ as a minimum. The base sound system is diabolical for the price point.

It's an addition to adaptive cruise where by it automatically slows down for corners etc. It also alters speed for changing speed limits but not sure if that bit was on earlier MY cars MY24 Dynamic SE,MY21 HSE Silver, MY20 SQ7, MY 18 RRS HSE Dynamic , MY 16 RRS Autobiography now gone & MY 2005 Discovery 3 HSE that I will be buried in !

Hi,

The slowing for corners is part of the adaptive cruise. It is also linked to GPS as are the Adaptive LED pixel headlights which change beam pattern depending on speed and whether you are “in an urban environment” or not!

The car does not slow automatically on speed limit changes. This is part of the EU 2024 ADAS changes and it either alerts you to a limit change, keeps allerting if you are over the limit or can be set to only chime on change and you press “RES” on the adaptive cruise to allow the car to slow down or speed up (as appropriate).

The system automatically resets to the highest level at every start cycle, I set mine to “custom” by using the steering wheel button now as a matter of course.
