Romania 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey
RRS SDV6 3.0D Restricted Performnce error code p22d2 p22cf

hello colleagues! I'm new to the forum and I use google translate so I apologize for any spelling mistakes.

I own a 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0Diesel sdv6.
for a week I have been experiencing the following problem, my limited performante at higher accelerations when I exceed 2500rpm. when I take my foot off the accelerator, the red triangle appears and I break down.. I have to stop the engine, and wait 1-2 minutes.. after which I restart it and everything is ok until the next acceleration. the diagnosis gives me the following errors:

1- p00bd-07 Mass or volume air flow of a circuit Range/performance - Air Flow Too high

2- p22d2-77 Turbocharger Turbine inlet Valve Stuck Open

3- p22cf-71 Turbocharger Turbine inlet Valve Control Circuit -Open

I am also attaching a photo with the error codes.

and around 1800-2000rpm it sounds like it's losing air somewhere. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to sound, or do I really have a loss somewhere?

please if anyone else has been through this and solved it tell me what the solution was..
what I tried to do, I removed the plastic shield near the left wheel where the vacuum operated valve is to check if it is not blocked.. it seems to be fine!
thank you and I await your opinions

Good afternoon,

Did you manage to resolve your P22D2-77 and P22CF-71 codes?

I have had these now for a few weeks. I have carried out a smoke test and there were no leaks and have replaced the Turbine Intake Shut off valve solenoid (LR076235). Both of which did not resolve my issue.

I am thinking it may now be the actual Accuator (LR033284)

Good morning all.

An update on this issue.

After some extensive checking/testing by my local independent garage the solution has now pointed to the Turbine Shut off Valve for the secondary turbo (Drivers side of engine). This is part number LR023511 on my car and it has been superseded by LR128703. Problem now is that part LR128703 is out of stock at Land Rover and there is no date for when they will be back in stock.

Of course there is a good stock of a complete secondary turbo at Land Rover (LR082293) and these are supplied with that part attached.

Can anyone advise if the shut off valve can be swapped without dropping the engine down because if it can, it may be worthwhile waiting for that part to come into stock. I am sure swapping the secondary turbo would definitely be an engine out process.

Any help/advice would be appreciated. "Every Day is a School Day"

Good morning all.

An update on this issue and closure……hopefully.

The Turbine Shut off value has now been replaced. I decided to look for a Jaguar part (CD44395/C2D18390) due to the availability of the Land Rover models and managed to find one of those in stock.

The installation was carried out by NWS Motor Services near Whitchurch, Shropshire and they were most helpful. Contact is Ashley Fraser. Courtesy Car was provided at no cost and I am now considering using them for all of my future servicing requirements etc.

I also had the Throttle Body replaced a few months ago by a local independent garage when this error first started to appear as this was deemed as the lesser of two evils by them. Probably in hind sight this was now not required, but at last I should not have any issues that relate to that part during my ownership.

Now I am in the second week since the install and have travelled on the same journeys where the error codes would have occurred and; so far, we are error code free. "Every Day is a School Day"

Hi, I am deep into the dreaded restrictive performance state following a pin hole in top water hose, caused by the JLR fitted protective sleeve moving and the sound proofing cover cutting into hose. When replacing hose, the thermostat manifold fell to pieces, requiring a replacement.
Following this I now have the dreaded 'RP' triangle. The codes are telling me turbo waste gate stuck, I have used three bottles of Forte turbo cleaner and BP additive fuel, without any success.
I have checked, where possible, all vacuum hoses, looking OK. Next step to try and remove heat shields under wheel arch to see if the waste gate is actually stuck. My question is: what valve/vacuum unit am I looking at on righthand side of engine, looking from front? Please see pic. Is it the so called 'Diverter' valve or the TSOV? When engine ticking over it is juddering and after revs increase the vacuum operates valve.
Didn't have 'RP' prior to this, Guess it's a combination of water spray and movement of hoses but why did wastegate stick? Banging Head

You pic is of the EGR Cooler Bypass Actuator which is vacuum controlled. There is an EGR unit on either side of the engine.

The CSOV sits centre or the radiator pack at the bottom, follow the large diameter boost hoses and you will find it, quite likely it's seized, easy fix!

Item 9P458 in the picture, check the vaccum actuator arm is moving freely, I'd imagine it's got a load of coolant over it and gummed it up.

TSOV is the actuator on the back of the secondary turbo

CSOV is on the bottom of the rad pack

If the fault has only happened since you've done the coolant manifold, its most likely there is something disconnected or unplugged Thumbs Up

Sorry DM, you're totally correct TSOV is rear of turbo, I think his problem is more likely the CSOV as it's had a coolant maniflold change.

I'll edit my post to save any confusion for the OP!

I'm voting for a vac pipe under the throttle body first, pr the vac pipe from the solenoid to rad pack as a second guess Laughing

I'd concure, the vacuum pipe from the solenoid to the csov is quite brittle and is a prime candidate to get clobbered doing the coolant manifold. I'm sure you see enough brittle pipes day to day!
