More electrical wiring woes on my 4.2 Supercharged

Following on from my elation sorting the transmission error fault from my previous post.
I thought I would have a go at the Navigation DVD Rom under passenger seat and 6 disc DVD player behind panel at the right rear.
Checking the voltage at the 6 disc DVD player I am only seeing 4 to 5 volts which fluctuates?
Attempted to trace the wiring back by putting a tone on the wiring at the rear dvd player, I cannot hear it in the passenger sil loom but do have it at the Rom DVD nav connector.

Head scratching moment….

Had a cup of tea and thought I would try and trace it out from the BCM fusebox in glovebox, I have 12v on upper part of pin 53 so checked the lower part of pin the wiring leaving the BCM onto the loom and it’s EARTHING out !!!
Put my tone back on at the rear DVD wiring again and thought I wonder if it goes via the drivers sill wiring loom…..I can hear my tone in the drivers side sill after lifting the sill trim, did feel under the carpet and it’s soaking wet.
Ran out of time today but planning to remove the drivers seat plus the sill trim to access that loom I dare say there is a crimp joint there sitting in water.

Wondered how the water got in on the drivers side when the passenger side sill was bone dry??

I don’t have a sunroof so will have a good look when the seat is out.

The A pillar exterior trim is a common water ingress failure point the clips have a seal which let's go

Thanks

Just seen the YouTube videos of the exact same thing, that’s probably the cause

Buy your self a whole new bunch of clips off the bay your gonna need them at somewhere point plus silicon them as well just to be sure.
The other place to look is the top roof gutter seal at the front under the runners.

There’s a connector behind the trim by throttle pedal.
Loom run down drivers side and under seat probably.

Yeah probably a crimp !

Had half an hour free this morning so whipped out the drivers seat and the sill trim cover to expose the drivers side loom.
Carpet was wet around where my pry tool is in the picture but dry higher up towards the pedals.

I can see the rust corrosion mid way and will investigate later hopefully

Found the problem, corroded connector in the lower A pillar drivers side, looks like a couple of pins have broken off as well.
Will either piece the wiring out to bypass the connector or try and get the connector plus wiring off a breaker.

Yep…mounted vertically so the water getting in just ran down the wiring and sat in the connector.

Someone has been in here before and drilled what appears to be two holes in the sill so must have had a water ingress problem before

Re spliced the wiring connector and I am back in business with a working multi play DVD and the sat nav drive.
Took the outer A pillar trim off and found the the water ingress culprit.
The top hole had nothing in it , no lug from the trim so the water easily got in.
Patched the hole with sealant and tape then changed all the clips giving them a bead of sealant too.
