Anyone know what’s happened in the last couple of months with insurance prices? A couple of months ago I was getting quotes of about £2.5k for the P550e I had on order and now the best I can get is over £5k. Have insurance companies ramped up the prices since Christmas?

That’ll be me cancelling now, they are basically selling a car that is borderline uninsurable.

The forum has plenty of examples of people finding insurance premiums going up in to the thousands. And it's not just RRS either - other makes are also suffering for various reasons e.g. old Honda Jazz that some companies won't now insure because the cats are easily nicked. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I know they’ve gone through the roof, but it’s literally doubled across the board in the last 2 months for me and nothing has changed.

Just checked the new Land Rover insurance and that’s £280 a month, could maybe stomach that but never thought it would be the case that there’s is the most reasonable option.

I've tried a few insurers today (LV, Aviva etc.) for a new 2024 RRS I was about to order.
I'm rural, middle aged, full NCB, clean sheet, other cars, all garaged etc.
I'd read the news but figured I'd be basically ok, glad I checked.
The 3 I tried all came back with "Sorry we cannot insure you". Only LR would cover at all from ones I checked and it was £3k. Not end of the world but read a few stories of LR also refusing to insure some people - it's only LR branded I presume and they must have an insurer behind it. If they're one of limited options and they also change over next year or so it'll be a bit of a muddle.

I'm putting order on hold for now much as it pains me.

Yeah I’m much the same, I knew it was bad but it seems to have got even worst over the last couple of months. They’ve got a major problem now, I can see most people who don’t have the money to buy the car outright cancelling as adding £300/£400 to the finance payments is becoming something that’s very hard to stomach.

LR Insurance is underwritten by Highway Insurance Company Limited. LV= and Liverpool Victoria are registered trademarks of Liverpool Victoria Financial Services Limited and LV= and LV= Liverpool Victoria are trading styles of the Liverpool Victoria General Insurance Group of companies. Highway Insurance Company Limited, registered in England and Wales number 3730662 is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority,

It's strange to be underwritten by LV as they would not insure my P460E AB even though I was an LV customer.

Nah, pretty soon Range Rovers are going to be cheap as so many will be on the second hand market thanks to the insurance issue. Which means people that buy cars rather than rent them will be able to pick up very nice vehicles for very much reduced prices. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I think it will hit second hand values hard, my quote is 2.5k that’s ok on £100k car but not at 50k. Based on latest press does seem prices unfair equivalent cayenne for me is £850

A replacement value of £50k for the same theft risk ought to result in a lower premium than the same car at £100k. But this is the insurance mafia we are talking about.

And one can get a perfectly good second hand RRS for much less than £50k. OK, it's going to a year or two older, but the saving on the purchase price covers the insurance premium. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

NFU are currently not taking on new business for RR's.

Well that's what they told me when I renewed my RRS a couple of weeks ago.

Yep I've also been told the same, but if you are an existing client with a good relationship and lots of other products then they will consider adding a new RR onto an existing policy (subject to risk level)

I was with a decent broker; Chris Knott who did the best deal for a pair of high end mercedes beating the comparison sites, as soon as i said i am buying a 2024 Range Rover sport he said the insurer i am with Highway (LV) don’t insure 4x4’s ! He then went to market and the “best” deal was Sabre @ £5k

The only other quotes I've had are Admiral £1,250 and Land Rovers product @£3k. No one else will quote.

Adrian Flux didn’t even bother to quote just asked me the best i’ve had so far and told me they won’t get anywhere near that.

Aviva, Direct Line, and Hastings all declined to quote.

Feel like i’m 18 all over again getting turned down, i’m mid 40’s FFS!

I'm looking to get new RRSport P460e.

I've tried Admiral, Aviva, NFU, Esure, Hastings and few others and most of them declined to insure Admiral quoted £7300.

I'm 40 with 16 year NCD and clean licence not sure what to do.
