I had a spare hour this eve so fitted the replacement winch for the spare

Changed the rear diff oil, I think it’s safe to say this nasty mess has been in there from new, the magnet on the sump plug was very furry but after cleaning no large chunks of metal on it.

Think I’ve worked out how to take pics with an iPhone so they work on here

Your excellent work on behalf of your RRS is making me feel a bit shameful. Today, the only things I did were change a number plate bulb and free off the nearside bonnet catch so it would shut properly. 5 minutes each. Thumbs Up

I need to figure out which bit of parking sensor loom is causing an intermittent parking sensor issue in wet conditions. That's not going to be a 5 minute job, I fear. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Carry your iid with you. When you get the issue look at live values for The one with a small distance

When not near any obstructions

I don't have an IID. I used to have one but when I bought the SDV6 I couldn't get the IID to talk to it even though Gap told me directly that it should work. So I gave the IID to the chap who bought the TDV8. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

If it inspires others to get a few jobs done that’s great Thumbs Up

I have a trip to France and Germany coming up the week before Xmas and I’m considering taking this if I can through my issues and things to do/check list

Had non functioning rear parking sensor system on the old Cayenne we had, that turned out to be crap in the bumper to body harness socket which was solved by unplugging and spraying with some contact cleaner.

I second RRSTDV8s thoughts on your excellent work ethic MHSPORT08. Puts me to shame as well.

And @RRSTDV8 whilst a bit Off Topic (and resurrecting another of my old posts), here's the link to my issue with rear parking sensors. Mine have behaved OK since my "temporary fix" back in 2017. I recall that I was concerned about the fundamental way the cabling for the wiring loom was routed behind the bumper and that it was just asking to become faulty.

Couple more jobs done.

The man who can has straightened and welded the crack and I have put a coat of primer over the exposed alloy to protect it

The spare now has the worst tyre and is fitted in its new home

I’ve also swapped out both front level sensors but there’s now an issue with the O/S front so I suspect I’ve either disturbed the wiring or the plug needs cleaning but I guess also it could be a new duff sensor, I’ll need to remove it clean the contacts and see if I can clear the fault but time ran out

More soon

Managed to get back in there today and look at the N/S sensor.

Seems like there was a connection issue, the car is now seeing the new sensors and I have driven it and no more wobbly wheel on the 4x4 display. There is still a suspension light on, actually it’s coming on after around 4 miles driving after clearing it.

A quick scan and we get these figures, I think this is now a calibration issue. If anyone has any thoughts let me know.

The car does not sit level, low driver side

Sadly I’m a but stuck now as I cannot calibrate it

I’m surprised that is the only fault code. Look again on other modules.
Usually you ignore U codes. For Info only

Consider an autel ap200 in white for calibration. Off eBay etc. avoid 2023 models.

Bear in mind that the suspension system doesn't deal in absolute ride height numbers. The numbers it holds aren't the "ride height" but just a figure so that the system knows how much each sensor is moving. If the diagnostic system doesn't understand that, it will show figures that aren't correct.

It's normal to see different "ride height" figures for each corner even when the car is sat correctly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I did some further exploration with fault codes and came up with issues on

Parking brake control M(will ignore this as it works ok)
Vehicle dynamics M (this is a code C1A00-88 )
Tranfer case control M (communication error)
HVAC (lower flap issue so will ignore this)

Having taking it for another drive I did a listening test upon returning and heard a hissing and sure enough the air tank has a leak on the inboard side where its sat up against the chassis rail. I'll whip this off and swap it out and clear the codes again as it might be throwing the light. Its certainly the "slowly raising" issue as each time the car is parked the reservoir pressure leaks away and then it has to raise the car from pump output.

There's a local mechanic who I believe can set the level height on all 4 corners (and he owns a RRS 2007) so its going into him next week.

Will report back sssssssssssssssoon Rolling with laughter

Check your air tank is all I can say

The new filter has arrived for the active roll system so we’ll change this and the fluid

That'll be why the compressor was recently changed then. It will have been working flat out, poor thing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
