Split tailgate button on keyfob

Hi,
New member/owner so go easy!
The button on the key fob which should unlock the upper half of the tailgate just turns the headlights on and off….. I’ve had the car a month and it did actually used to open the tailgate, any ideas why it’s changed?
Thankyou

From memory, it's a programmable button and each of the keys can be separately programmed, so are you sure you're using the same key each time? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

ensure car unlocked

go to the rear off car

hold the LR button down on the keyfob, and while doing that press the upper release button on tailgate.

That should reprogram that key Mods: FaceLift/D4 Sat Nav Display and reverse camera. BT. Remote FBH. Parking light switch position. Rear reading light activated by doors.

That kind of worked, the buttons on my upper tailgate must be broken, as I’ve managed to get the Land Rover button to unlock the lower tailgate. I think I remember reading that the upper was a known fault. Not to worry, atleast I know now. Thanks for your help

I think Ford tailgate buttons fit off eBay (focus?) but you need to use your old connector. (Join wires)
