I had both my TDV8 and 5.0L and neither had a fault come up, however they may be correct as you can actually reset the adaption values using the Gap diag. tool as well, which then in theory will learn new parameter based on your driving style etc. not sure how long or the mileage it will take to learn them though, not long I wouldn't think. Might be worth just driving it around and see If it sorts itself out.

We had this once with a remap we carried out, turned out there was a faulty injector which wasn't apparent beforehand

Garage have advised to take her on a decent run so I’m going to reset the error code and keep her under 70mph as so not to trigger the error fault and I’m going to take her 50 mile trip as I’ve got to go out anyway

Not forever just to to let it retrain itself on the new parameters on this 50 mile trip ????

No, I believe they uploaded a new map and more or less called it a day while your injectors are maxing out. Was it a custom dyno tune or a quick reflash? Regards etc.,

Hi, wasn’t a custom remap but rather a generic one for a RRS 2010

That is a celtic gains screenshot. I would see who your local company use as a master. Bet its them. Honestly I have had NO issues with my alive map. Been absolutely fantastic in fact. |

I think the OP should consider what Disco-Mikey has said and consider that the remap has just highlighted an issue that wasn't apparent previously. Although the excerpt that Col put up does show one cause of the error message being a software flash fault.

No, that's not going to happen. The remap requests a certain amount of fuel to be delivered to the cylinders and (most probably) the injectors are not up to the job. You may hope they will unclog themselves with the increased amount of fuel thrown at them (unlikely), you may try to unclog them with an injector cleaning fuel additive (again, rather unlikely). If the garage didn't measure the injector corrections (degradation of the actual injector performance from the rated value) that the engine has worked out throughout its life, and didn't adjust the map accordingly, you have been uploaded a map assuming all injectors work at 100% rated flow. As we all are aware, this never happens, they degrade with time. That's why you are running way too lean in full-throttle scenarios and that's why you get the errors. Now the good and bad news: - the bad news is your map may be maxing out the injectors. They can not deliver what is requested from them. An injector diagnostics and replacement may be in order. - the good news is a serious degradation takes serious time and kilometers. Maybe - but this is a maybe - your system needs a calibration reset and some driving. In which case the procedure suggested by the garage may work. Point is, this should've already happened. If you (or the garage) reset the calibration, this takes a couple of hours for the ECU to work it out properly. In this case, it may happen your corrections are already set again, but they exceed what the injectors can deliver. Back to "bad news" square. Still, this is a generic map and while you can feel the difference, you have no idea how the power increase has been realised. If it is a simple "crank the boost and throw some fuel at it" (as in: "not customized to the particular vehicle, preferably on a dyno"), it's not a good remap. Technically it's not a remap at all, since nobody "mapped your engine again", it's a straight reflash and they are risky for reasons laid above. I see a lot of this generic and RR map debate. Most ecu's now cannot be live tuned. The ECU he has in particular ( iirc its an edc17cp11 ) is a bench only job. The only way to live tune so to speak is many many runs and removals to fine tweak it. I cant think of any mapping company that does this for all cars, hence a specialist will have spent a bit more time I would imagine on a certain engine/brand. |

Yes, the Bosch ECU is bench only, however I believe the reflashing should be preceded with some diagnostics (injectors, boost pressure), results of which should be taken into account and the map tweaked before uploading. Then test drive/dyno run with live data monitoring, back on the bench, adjust the map, test drive... That's why remaps costs so much! Regards etc.,
