Stolen

So my RRS MY 2021 with Cat 5 tracker was stolen from outside my front door on 30th Dec.

9 months old and in perfect condition. Taken despite bothe keys being in my house and in faraday pouches.

Bit gutted. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

Sorry to hear that. At least they didn’t break in for keys I suppose. Hopefully the insurers will get you in a replacement soon - are you going to get the same again?

That’s a good question!
There’s a “replacement with new” cover under the insurance policy, so I may need to go for the same again to get the best settlement. I liked the car, I’m just a bit concerned any replacement will get nicked too. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

Sorry to hear about your rrs,,is their any cctv in the area which will help how they took it if keys were in faraday pouch, also I thought they’d updated the new keys so they can’t be scanned.Have you checked your faraday pouch as the only seem to last for so long & I recommend if you get a replacement vehicle get a disk lock, that’s what I now have & if they see that they probably go on to the next car. Andy.

I was of the understanding that a 21 MY could not be stolen by rebroadcasting…
It is more likely a key was coded for it previously…whilst parked at airport car park, car wash, valet parking etc…

Had you ever left the car alone with a third party? Or ever unlocked on your drive…

With the Cat 5 you should have been told of a movement alert? Did this happen?

I reckon your biggest issue will be getting a new car without a very long wait.

Did you have keyless entry switched on? regardless if they are in pouches, most pouches are not big enough to fit key fob and attached ironmongery etc.

Do you not use Guardian mode on the Incontrol app? it even reminds you now if you haven't locked your car after 15mins.
Guardian mode is a must, even if you forget and unlock the car, Tracker Company get a Red Alert and they call you Embarassed

the keys are using wide band technology and only keyless or someone who has had possession of your keys and then make a copy can deactivate alarm and immobiliser

Get a Ghost fitted on next car and a independant tracker as scumbags know where the factory trackers are. Only costs around £650 for both and worth every penny if you consider the inconvenience and stress to sort out RRS HSE DYNAMIC 2015 ODESSEY RED

Key pouches fit easily and were working fine. I’d only done 6500 miles. Keyless was switched on (which I won’t be doing again). Cat 5 notification worked - the car told me it had been stolen less than 2 minutes after it was taken. Car spotted on cctv at the end of the road but no one identified.
Spent 15 minutes on hold to the police before I could get through…
GPS disabled immediately (probably a short range jammer). GSM lost 30 minutes later, probably when they got to where they were going. Before it ceased jlr could see it moving cell tower to cell tower. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

I'd have used 999 or did it take 15 minutes to get through on that? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Stupidly, first thing i did was ring JLR, to confirm it was a theft. They told me to use 101 to report it which again with hindsight might not have been the best decision. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

For future info, as suspected a 21MY cannot currently be attacked by rebroadcasting. However it is possible to code it a new emergency key to recover the vehicle but not open vehicle doors..

However the thieves need an unlocked vehicle or to be able to break a window to access the obd to do this…

Therefore people must ensure their vehicle is locked before walking away from it! Thieves are currently using blockers to drown the signal from the owners key. This can be a device planted nearby which stops the lock signal from the owners key reaching the car.. therefore you must ensure it’s locked by watching the mirrors fold back before leaving it..otherwise you literally leave it wide open to the car thieves…

Nope, they just pull the lock cover off the drivers door and use a lock pick to unlock the car. They did it to mine then used an emergency start. Whole things takes less than 2 mins
