Well, not even one reply. Am I on the wrong site? No people with tech knowledge here?

The technical people are on www.disco3.co.uk

It’s not a gearbox dip stick. It’s engine oil

One bolt secures the tube
Then a lot of force upwards.
It twists around the turbo and is very difficult to route back in

Dipstick

I have a 2013 L320 SDV6, can anyone tell me if it has a Gearbox Dipstick please?
I cannot find one and as I had the fluid and filter changed a few weeks ago I would just like to check the levels Michael

I think the trade is going backwards, gone are the days of a dip stick, maybe the dealer that changed the oil can just check it for you, maybe a ramp job and remove the fill plug ??

Thanks
I am fortunate to have access to a ramp, does the gearbox need to be warm when checking the with the level plug? Michael

It needs to be very slightly warm.

Run through all the gears you can.
Then most importantly leave the engine running while taking the level plug out and refitting. Failure to do this will result in loads of oil pouring out. And the level will be wrong then!
