Scotland 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Siberian Silver

Hi I'm jim, I recently bought a 2006 rrs hse with 130k on it needs a few things done but in general runs nice, has usual cold start issue so replaced and well insulated the tcu , seems to help, cleaned the map sensor as it was chocked, now seems to run far smoother and fuel consumption up a few miles. Had it just over a week and starting to love it. Thinking of cleaning out the fbh as not sure it's doing what it should be fine but can hear it making noises of some kind. It's a car I loved the look of since they were first made. Could never afford one and scared to buy one as they got older due to problems with the engines etc but it's on my bucket list so thought I'd give it a go. So far so good

Isle Of Man 2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black

Hi All.

I'm a new member and this is my first post. I really liked the design of the RRS when it first came out. Early last year I bought a 2012 RRS with 39,000miles on the clock. Love the car but has a niggling issue from purchase. After a week or so of normal driving around town if I accelerate to overtake another car, particularly on a hill I will leave them in a cloud of grey smoke, funny if I do it to my brother but to other drivers not so much.
On two occasions I have taken the car back to the dealer I purchased it from. On the first occasion he told me the Diesel Particle Filter needed a good blow out. As it happened shortly after I took the car from the Isle of Man and did a trip Heysham to Gatwick, Edinburgh and back to Heysham. The car was great. Shortly after driving off the ferry I gave it a blast up my "usual" hill and lo and behold a cloud of smoke. Took it back to the dealer and he told me they could find nothing wrong.
I've done several internet searches DPF has been mentioned EGR valves and also cracks in intercooler pipes.
Since I've owned I've only covered 5000 miles but decided to put it in for a service and have the cam belt changed on account it wasn't done at seven years. (The car had a dealer FSH). I took the car to someone a friend recommended who specialises in Land Rovers. I requested a service and the cam belt and told him about the smoke. He said he would investigate the turbo. An hour later I received a phone call telling me I needed a new secondary turbo and the body would need to be lifted to do this.
When I started searching on the internet for RRS turbo issues I discovered your excellent forum and have since learned about a problematic turbo drain hose that appears to cause the symptoms that my RRS exhibits. I also learned that Land Rover issued a Technical Service Bulletin on the subject,
I'd like to go back to the people that sold me the car, who pride themselves on having ex land rover technicians on staff and ask them if they have heard of the TSB.
I'd also like to know if I need to replace a turbo but don't really know how to get a second opinion. So i'm looking for advice and assistance on asking the right questions.
Apart from the smoke I haven't noticed any other issues, no loss of power. If I give it a blast the smoke clears, give it another blast on the same trip it remains clear, however, after about a week of moderate driving on acceleration (as per your forum I've learned when the second turbo kicks in at 2800rpm) grey smoke again.
No oil leaks, though the recent mechanic who informed me I needed to do a turbo job said there was a significant amount of oil in the hose or pipe he inspected. Not being very mechanically minded I'm assuming this was the intercooler hose?
He also told me there was a risk of engine run on if the turbo ran on on lube oil with the potential of catastrophic engine failure.
I've since thought if this was a regular occurrence Land Rover would have had to do more than issue more than a TSB.
I apologise for this being such a long winded opening message but would appreciate any advice.

United Kingdom

Hi everyone,
I'm really glad I've found this forum and hope you are all able to help me!
I am 69 years of age and due to my wife's disability we have been running a Motability vehicle for over 10 years.
Recently had to sell my beloved motorcycle trike because now I can't spend 3-4 hours on a ride and leave my wife on her own.
SO - I thought, let's get a vehicle that we can use together and hopefully give me enjoyment similar to my trike "rush".
After the sale of my trike and with a bit of savings I am able to put £15k for the purchase or a RRS.
Simple question - but probably with a myriad of answers - what would you recommend to be my best RRS buy?
Many thanks to all who read this post and I am really looking forward to receiving your experienced advice.
Cheers,
Bertha

Hello to all new members, can I just say that to anyone who has a question its probably best to ask it in other areas of the forum, as this is the say hello thread, and questions tend not to get a answer.

New Enthusiast

Hello all,

New enthusiastic owner of an L320 2008 TDV6, I think the color is Arctic White with black leather interiors, was used .... and abused ....

I would like to restore it and upgrade it as if came out of the factory.

No fancy spoiler or stickers .... just plain sexy underrated L320

I just recently had my first problems and thanks to all of you, and at disco3.co.uk, I resolved the first ones, AMK Compressor air dryer filter kit (found this web site https://4x4airseals.com) and a few parts from Rimmerbros.co.uk

New to RRS - but it has always been on my bucket list

Hi all,

I finally ticked one of my bucket list items and bought a 2013 RRS HSE Black edition - love it. It's got just over 70k miles, but bought from a land rover specialist who's maintained it for the last 5 years. Prior to picking it up they did a full service including the timing and I think they said fuel pump belts.

Not sure which black it is though so if you know do reply.

Look forward to engaging with you all.

Andy

New to RRS

HI all... we are about to buy our first RRS... have had a couple of early Discovery's in the past... one a Diesel and the last one was a Series 2 V8 7 seater... loved both of them.
The new one (well new to us) is a 2008 2.7 fitted with the 21 inch Trident style (Autobiograhy?) rims... in Buckingham Blue and Ebony trim. I know it has the 6CD changer and Sat/Nav and that it isnt the Logic 7 system, it also has Memory seats and Auto adjust steering column... other than that I find it hard to read the VIN Decoder.

She has 180K km on it and pretty good service history so hopefully we can do the deal next week and we dont find too many niggly issues.

I am keen to find the best solution for a Double Din Apple Carplay head unit that will mostly leave the Nav Screen operable... just for the 4WD info etc... Navigation will be done via Carplay... I hope lol.

So far I have been trawling the site for all the good info and I am sure I will put it all to good use and even contribute a bit as well..
Pics will arrive when we close the deal.

Hi all, I’m new to the forum, had a number of RRS and Vogues over the last few years, I am a serial Retro fitter, can’t help myself!, currently own a 2014 3.0 V6 Autobiography which I have just finished fitting OEM TV and blind spot monitoring/reverse traffic detection to, fairly competent with modifying CCF files using IID and SDD.
So if there are any nutters out there like me who like upgrading stuff for the sake of it I’m happy to help if I can!
