Window switch - problem

2006 Sport. Drivers window switch not always working. If I don't do something about it one day its going to get stuck in the open position. Will the small bank of 4 switches on the drivers door prise up and out without any problem so I can check the connections? Or do I need to look elsewhere? Andrew Kennedy

The electrics will be OK - it will be the lever itself - where it pivotts it breaks hence why it works sometimes - if the lever is in the right position it works, if it is not the switch will not work - it is the mechanics of the switch.

In the 11 years I have owned my car I have been through two switch panels - source from a breaker is cheaper but check they are ok as they could already broken.

The issue comes about because you can put your finger under the switch and pull up - too much strength and it breaks. I have told myself to stop doing this and just gently use my finger tip to raise the window. Its been a while but if you are careful you can prise the switch panel out of the door but the wires are a bit short. 07MY RRS TDV6

I think its more a case of having to remove the trim panel first, to disconnect switches.
Seamed that way to me annoyingly

Thanks for the advice. Might try to take the switch out perhaps order a replacement first? Andrew Kennedy

A question re my need for a replacement of the bank of 4 window switches. ITS AN EXPENSIVE ITEM and from what you tell me probable not worth buying second hand. When I take the car in for a service next time (very good local guy) would you consider the switch mechanise reparable???! Andrew Kennedy

I'm being quoted £99.01 for a new replacement to the window switches on the driver door!!!! I understand from your remarks that the switch mechanism is quite delicate. If I go for a used second hand one, just looking at it, would it be obvious its going to be in good order? I would imagine its a sealed unit?!? Andrew Kennedy

I have not bought new replacements - always second hand - just make sure the plastic hinges are not broken.

Of course with yours, it may have another issue. 07MY RRS TDV6

If you buy online, from eBay. You should get a refund if it doesn’t work
