Towbar

Good day all, hope all well.
Looking for advice on best towbar to fit to my 2007 l320, for towing caravan.
I've heard few scary story's about removable towbar coming loose during transit, resulting in accidents.
So, looking for a fixed one, but which one ? Any advice will be grateful

Thanks

I use the factory hook admittedly I only have a two berth van @ about 1300kg all up. Check the condition of your receiver in the chassis for corrosion some fixed bars still use this, mine still had the red plastic cover in and when I got a s/hand hook and put it in there was no movement.

You can get a security plate if you want to be belt and braces. Steve

Tow Trust. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I'm just using the removable standard one. But with the security plate.
So far so good.
I'm towing a Buccaneer Cruiser - its a 1,900kg twin axle van if it helps. Current car - 2016 MY17 L494 in black - sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.
Sadly gone - 2013 L320 3.0 TD in grey! sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.

There's a recall on the tow hitch receiver for RRSs - check if yours has been checked. Apparently they can wear with use.

I've a Trust TL1 - does what it says on the tin, looks nicer than the Landrover fixed one and has a better exit angle than it.

I have Tow Trust's removeable tow bar. They no longer sell it as I think the supplier of the mechanism stopped making them. Anyway, I find it tows better with the Tow Trust device than the LR removable one. I think the LR ball height is a bit low on the RRS and with a twin axle horse trailer, it's not quite as stable as the Tow Trust ball. Same trailer, same vehicle, different tow bars/balls, so it must be the design of the bar and the / or the ball height. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
