New Zealand 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

They are not cheap these day's but the Gap Diag. tool is worth it's weight in gold if you intended to keep the vehicle some time, only need a few visits to a dealer just to have codes read and paid for itself, always a good second hand market for them as well. I believe you can purchase a new licence for it relatively cheaply if you change to a different L/R vehicle.

Are they straightforward for a non- electrical Muppet like me? What is a good but reasonably priced make and model to go for? There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

This is the one most guy's on the forum go for I believe, the BT version, you might need to shop around a bit as they do vary in price a little, it really isn't difficult to use, but that is easy to say if you know how to use it, there is a quite comprehensive user manual goes with it, their customer service is second to none in my experience and Patrick at Gap is extremely helpful if you have a problem. If you wanted to PM me a e-mail address and I could send you a PDF of the manual if you wanted to have a look first.

Hi Col - I'd struggle to wire a three pin plug so no code reader (I'd be dangerous with it!) However at Loughrans when they had a quick initial look with a code reader. I think the technician said the code was the image processing module. I can't say for certain if there were other codes too or not - that was the only one mentioned.

You don’t have a IPM B so that shouldn’t be applicable. Just check under the passenger seat for a silver box. It shouldn’t be there but if it is, there’s a bigger issue at play.

I’ve got a feeling that these may be separate faults here but maybe attributed to one common occurrence. Heavy rain, power surge or something like that. The only interaction these systems have is over the CAN and at the head unit for display. Normally tapping the reverse camera image will switch it to the graphic for parking aid display.

What I don’t understand is why they won’t activate automatically or manually which is why I’m thinking it’s either separate faults with a common cause or a CAN BUS fault for the switching. I don’t know any reason for a corrupted video image on the screen other than a Censored camera and that has zero to do with the parking aid. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

As I said not a auto electrician and may have read the diagrams wrong, but this appears to be a common earth point between the rear view camera front parking sensors and the dash switch, so may be worth having a look at, although as I said could be way off base.

Hi Col! This looks like a good starting point. Base of the D pillar - is this the one behind the nearside rear light cluster that was mentioned in another thread in 2017?

Thanks again (and thanks for the stuff yesterday by PM) There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

Agh yes, good spot, C2924T is the ring termination for the camera and C2922T is the ring termination for the parking aid module, all on the same earth post.

Theres a few things to think about though, first issue is that the parking aid module, the fuel pump, the LH tail light, rear wiper, boot switches all go to Solder Joint 8 before earthing to C2992T earth post. So non of those should work if it’s a bad earth. Also the camera is working but has a corrupt signal so the earth must be working. Defo worth investigating though in case it’s something like an out of range resistance due to corrosion or damage. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Just realised, mis-read terminal number C2568T thought that was the earth connection for the dash switches as well, but I see that is C2598 and is at bottom of R/H "B" post.

Update - sensors and camera still not fixed due to the specialist at Loughrans being off for a few weeks. Oddly, started the car tonight and whilst in park the camera suddenly sparked into life - with parking lines, etc. Very odd. Only did it the once but at least I know the camera itself is not completely dead Cool There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

Had you been in the boot?

Occasionally the wires in the rubber tube at the top of the boot fracture. If they made a connection briefly it may give you video. A long shot but could be worth a play. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Last night it worked after I had just been in the boot so definitely worth a try. Thanks Brit! There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

United Kingdom

so ours had a bit of a fit a little while back after some heavy rain

i'd suggest taking the left rear light out and unplugging , drying and then assembling the plug again perhaps with a little bit of dielectric grease in there. Won't do you any harm to give the parking sensirs a good douse in WD40 as well and leave over night.
These things seem to collect garbage inside that rear bumper for fun so the individual parking sensirs have a hell of a time.
When a dodgy connection or earth is found by the system in that loop it knocks out all the sensors. I think it only puts a proper fault out for sensor failure if the sensor is totally dead 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)

UPDATE - Finally made it to a garage today and had the problem fixed. As always the forum gurus were right Bow down It was the front off side parking sensor. Everything now works again - including the parking camera.

All ably sorted in a matter of hours by the good guys at Mark Smith & Co at Bicester (not far from Bicester Heritage). Code read, bumper off and new sensor fitted. Car returned the same day.

Finally, after five months of backing with no sensors or camera - I cannot get out of the habit of reversing on my mirrors, rather than rely on the camera. Rolling with laughter

Thanks to everyone who helped with this thread Thumbs Up There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

How ridiculous is that, it’s got to be a software driven issue for the reverse camera to not work because of a front sensor failure. After all, you can have rear sensors only with a camera! 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

I’ve the same problem. I think it’s a bad rear parking sensor and have one ordered.

Question. If you unplug a parking sensor will the camera / parking system stop working?
