Oil Leak

Seem to have an oil leak coming from somewhere.

It appears this started pretty much straight after having the inlet manifold changed.

After the repair I was getting bits of smoke from the general area just below the drivers side manifold. But noticed some diesel around there. Apparently this was just some left over spillage when the injectors were removed.
The guy who did the work came out and cleaned everything up. So I had thought it was just diesel that had been dripping down.

But it now turns out there is an oil leak. And I have been occasionally been getting a small amount of smoke from that same area and am therefore wondering if anyone would have any ideas where it would be coming from.

I'm guessing it is related to the inlet manifold change or it would be quite a coincidence if it should just start leaking after that was done.

Read somewhere it could be the oil pump or oil filter seal? 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE

It's very easy to snag the seal on the drivers manifold when refitting

Done it once before Big Cry

Does focus you for future replacements though Laughing

Definitely hoping it's not that.
Was told it took 10 hours to change the manifold!
Luckily doesn't seem to be anything around the edges of the manifold.
Well, I say "luckily" but there's not really luck involved when there's a leak somewhere Laughing 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE

As I actually had a bit of time while there was some daylight, I had a look around as best I could in the engine bay. Doesn't seem to be any oil anywhere near the top and cant see any looking down all the possible gaps with a bright torch, so it must be coming from somewhere a bit lower down that can't be seen from above.
But still seems a very big coincidence that this started straight after having the drivers side inlet manifold replaced, but pretty much no idea where it could be coming from now, or how that work would have affected/caused it. 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE

Another thing I just thought of that I hadn’t mentioned. It only leaks with the engine running. Don’t know if that narrows anything down? 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE

I just done a oil leak on mine. it was the oil pump seal to the block and front crank shaft oil seal both humping out oil and throwing it every where...
Problem is saying it only leaks when the engine is running does not really narrow it down and when its not running there no oil pressure and no oil flowing around the top end so really its not going to leak...
Could be leaking from around the inlet manifold nut into the center of the v block and running down

As much as I was hoping it’s not going to be the inlet manifold, it just seems too much of a coincidence for it not to be. Started leaking almost straight after having it replaced. Was completely fine before that.
So I’m guessing it will need a new gasket, as the current one is likely to be damaged if it’s leaking after fitting? 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE

Slight update.
Finally managed to get it booked in somewhere to get it looked at.
But they said they "think" its one of the turbos as there is oil around there. Although they can only be "80% sure". But it is not something they can check properly as that would need the body off.
Just seems odd as the leak started straight after having the inlet manifold replaced and the turbos are running fine. 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE

Looks like you were right!
Took it over to 4 W Motors on Tuesday and he spotted it straight away.
So he's got it back in today and is fitting a new manifold gasket for me. 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6 HSE
