Diesel fuel leak - FBH?

A fuel leak has just developed under the Mid/drivers side of my RRS (a 2010 TDV8). I'm trying to identify the part shown in this pic as I can't seem to find diagrams anywhere of what it is. I'm not sure if the leak is from the pipes or this part. It's on the cross member underneath at the front of the fuel tank protection/shroud.

I suspect it must be something to do with the FBH fuel supply as the leak has only started since I've been trying to check that my FBH is working (recently enabled timed climate with my IID) - the FBH prime and ops test check out OK with the IID but it wont stay on for more than 30 secs or so. Before I dig further into diagnosing the FBH issues I'd like to sort the leak first.

Any help appreciated!

Kev

That's the fuel pump for the fuel burning heater.

Do you think it's leaking from the pump itself or the connections to the pump? Kev

Thanks Kev.

I'm not sure but I'll dry everything off tomorrow then try and see where it's leaking from. TBH the pipes look ok but as the pump is the low point the leak could well be higher up. Are the pumps themselves known to leak? 2010 TDV8 - current - my first RRS, loving it so far......

I'm not sure to be honest Kev. I've never heard of one leaking.

Definitely worth a clean up and monitor to see where it's coming from. Kev

So further investigations made this morning - I'm pretty certain the pump is leaking, it ticks nicely when manual heat is selected on the timed climate screen with a matching steady drip from the black plastic cover end of the pump. No leaks when it's not powered on.

That's a pain having now seen the price of a new pump versus some new rubber pipe and clamps! Sad

I prefer to always fit new parts but in this case I might try a s/h one.

For safety's sake it looks like I'll have to pull fuse 28 for now to isolate the FBH until I can fit another pump. 2010 TDV8 - current - my first RRS, loving it so far......
