Quite a coincidence, as I have just ordered a couple of sets of the dust boots from Advanced Factors as one of mine has as slight split, may have done it when pads replaced a while back. I did come across that tsb about squealing brakes as well, couldn't find the bit they referred to in the workshop manual though, but it appears to be relatively simple to change them though based on a couple of items I found google as you don't need to disturb the piston/seal to change them, just have the piston out slightly and can lever out old cover and press new one in, I think you may need to at least unbolt caliper from hub for more room though.
