Interior Lights

Hi Giys

Still cant figure out this interior light issue..

The puddle lights work, as do the footwell lights, the fuse is ok, and boot light works, courtesy lights will not come on when the car door is open, but you can press the map lights on.

Ive set the lights to automatic, the middle courtesy button when pressed will turn the puddle lights off, but wont light up, im thinking the unit might be bad as I cant think of anything else,

Anyone came across this before.

Cheers

Gerry

is it just the case you have switched it off? try holding center button pressed for over 5 sec.

cjb is central junction box behind dash

Which lights do you call puddle lights?

To me, puddle lights are the ones in the bottom of the doors. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

I've always called the one's in the external mirrors the puddle lights. We can now start a debate. Rolling with laughter

I can’t remember which way LR call it, the mirror ones only come on when you unlock the car and the front door ones only come on when the car has run and the doors are opened (on mine at least).

I was confused by the OPs comment that pressing the middle courtesy light switch turned off the puddle lights. I’ve not tried it but it just seams that function is a little odd/pointless unless he’s referring to the courtesy lights 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

The middle switch turns off all interior courtesy lights and the one's in rear doors, has no effect on the front door lights on mine. L/R do call the one's in the door "puddle" lamps and the mirror one's approach lamps.

Hmmm

finding this quite interesting as I've never got the rear interior lights to function on door open in our car - work fine when manually switched on fronts work with doors no problem at all 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)

Because they don't, that's why but there is a mod to get them to work with the doors opening, should be able to find the instructions on the site somewhere but I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. The one's being referred to are in the bottom of the door or door trim panel.

This is one.

I wired the rear interior lights up to the boot light with a couple of diodes. The polarity of the bulb holder must also be reversed. As Col said, instructions can be found on this site. Kev
