United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Lux Izmir Blue
parking aid

I am totally lost here with this fault. Hoping someone has an idea of where to look next.
The fault is, The front sensors blow, when i say blow they are shorted between the + and -
I get a code saying front and rear parking circuit fault.
If I change the sensors ALL of them it works for a couple of times the pop one of them goes again.
So far I have change ALL of the sensors , not the cheap chinese ones
Changed Both wiring harnesses
Checked wiring loom for damages from harnesses to wiring loom
And even tried a pcb from another RR
Still the same issue.
It's never the same location of sensor. But always the front.

Any thoughts!

that is a difficult one!

I would sugguest measuring the voltage between the brown and black wire. (with the system enabled)

Though, if you changed the control unit you should have ruled this out

What code do you get and how do you know it’s a short from + to -? Could it be an open circuit? Could it be a short to earth? Could it be a short to a high voltage circuit? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Two codes i get are b1b57-11 and b1b58-11
Both codes are front and rear power circuit power fault.
How I know its a short is if i remove the sensors I can use a multimeter I get a dead short across one of the sensors. at the +/- terminal.
Again replace the sensors, it works again for a couple of days.
I'm an expert at removing the bumpers now, 15 min Laughing

The codes are for circuit and connectors, as you've already changed harness, maybe check the connectors for bend or broken pins/damage both ends.

edit: could also be a chaffed/dameged wire

As I say, I have looked for damaged wires. Nothing, it can't be pins as I have changed BOTH harnesses. I just can't figure out why the front sensors blow. (shorted between the +/-)
Change the front sensors and away it goes for a few times.
Last time it worked 4 times the the light on switch flashes again with the same two codes stored. And yes I have done a full scan even checking for a trans fault Nothing.
I have now even checked for some daft faults like reversing lights Nothing!

Is it always the same front sensor?

Just reread your first post and I see the fault moves.

Have you measured what voltage you’re getting at the sensors? For one to keep failing I’m wondering if you have high voltage short in the engine bay harness or body harness. Have you had any water ingress into the passenger side sill or footwell while you’ve owned the car? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

2008 2.7 hse sport.
That's the daft thing its the front center that blow every time . which is a shame as I can change the two outer's without removal of bumper. But these have never gone.
I have never had any water enter the car.
Today I used an insulation tester ( MEGA for old school folks like me ) nothing ann good.
I have now pulled the fuse to stop the bleep on start up.
I will look into buying an after market sensor kit and fit this to front and rear.
I just hate being beat.

I wouldn't use a megger on a car, asking for big troubles, are u using 500 or 1000 volt?

500v but only on the 12v supply to sensors. All of which were disconnected. module removed also.
Checked positive to ground all good.
I'm going to give it one last try. As its the front that fail, I'm going to swap the rear with the front, these are still original to car.
Hoping for a faulty batch of sensors. 2008 range rover sport 2.7 hse

Not a electrician but doesn't make sense to me, connector C2245R shown as 14 pin connector, wiring diagram shows blue wire pin no.19. C2245L shows 24 pin connector, unless I'm reading it all wrong which is quite possible.

If it were me and I had a GAP IID, I would disable the fronts, by editing the CCF to say rears sensors fitted only.
And disconnect the front loom below headlight to stop shorts impacting the system (like they do)
and try that.

factory working rears is better than an aftermarket system.

fronts can be disconnected at the ecu if required
