Headlamp restoration

Thought I'd share this in case anyone else was thinking about doing the same but had doubts on whether it was worth trying..
Headlamps were looking pretty oxidised and faded so before going out and buying replacements I thought I'd give one of the restoration kits a go. For the sake of £20 and a few hours of time it seemed a no-brainer so a little bit of on line research and ordered a 3M kit via Amazon.
These kits are ideally suited to lenses with a flat profile so as you need to sand the whole lens and ours are anything but flat,I decided to take both off to protect the bumpers and do the sanding on the workbench. Glad I did as there was no way to get the lower rounded sections if they were still on the car.
I think the results for £20 were well worth it - was uncomfortable starting the sanding as once you do there is no turning back but with some patience and time they have come up pretty good I think.
If anyone is thinking about doing this I would suggest you have a go, all you need is a drill, spray bottle of water and some time, but make sure you buy a kit from a reputable brand.

I think I read the lenses have a coating which protects it from UV. It’s worth a try though and youve not lost much if they go dull again in a few months. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

A good quality polish will help to keep this from happening again..

My old car I had to do this every couple of years once I started.. ===========================================

I did this on my previous Lotus

Removing the headlights is a better option , i would also suggest purchasing all the sanding disks separately

INDASA RHYNOGRIP ABRASIVE SANDING DISCS HT LINE 75mm 3in P800 X 50 CAR BODY

INDASA RHYNOGRIP ABRASIVE SANDING DISCS HT LINE 75mm 3in P500 X 50 CAR BODY

3m 50415 Hookit Trizact P3000 75mm x 15 discs

When doing my lotus i started with a 3m kit. I had used it all before even doing the second headlight ! Meguiars ultimate compound was also a good polish for the end bit. Also ! make sure you protect your headlights now the UV coating has gone, eventually they will turn yellow.

Forgot to mention in the original posting that I also applied a sealant treatment to prevent the yellowing occurring again!

Appreciate the advice though gents....
