Exhaust Tips Rattling against Rear Vibration Damper

I've had a mare this morning.

I bought some Exhaust Tips from Ebay that fit well (its the diesel tips, pointing down) however on the nearside, the exhaust tip is rattling against the rear vibration damper. After googling some other tips i see clams such as 'does not rattle against rear vibration damper' so am i right to assume this is a known issue and i will have to cut my losses or is there a modification i could do without removing the rear damper?

Thanks in advance

You can try and alter the fit when you tighten the clamp, helped a little with mine but I still ended up holding one pipe with my hands whilst pushing the other away with my feet. That got it spot on. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

I bought some Hawke exhaust tips in 2010 when my TDV8 was new. There was not enough clearance with the right hand balancer (it touched all the time) so they went straight back in the box. I had about 6-7mm clearance between the balancer and the exhaust.

I fitted a set of tail pipe trims to a 2008 Sport I use to own. however I did not want the exhaust gasses exiting from underneath the trim as I thought it looked Censored

I bought a set from https://www.adamesh.co.uk/. These were designed to fit on a downturned exhaust with the gasses exiting from the rear. However I had to cur a couple of inches/50mm off the end of the tail pipes as I did not want the exhaust hanging too low.

Look at this thread as it has a couple of photos that mey be of interest to you

I had exactly the same problem with my exhaust tips from eBay. The left hand one fouled the resonating damper. In the end I fitted them with the nearside one just very slightly off the horizontal plane and mirroring the slant the other way on the offside one. Of course I can see it and its annoying - but to the casual observer I believe it looks acceptable.

These were the ones I bought - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322053837575

I think this is a common problem, I bought a pair from powerfuluk and ended up by physically (using foot) pushing it until it stopped rattling. RRS 2006 2.7TD BLACK (MY FIRST RR!!!!)
