Auto headlights staying on RRS 2010

I’m having a problem with my 2010 Range Rover Sport.

My headlight switch is in the auto position and my headlights stay on in the daylight. They only go off when I select them to off.

The car has been running fine and this has only started the last couple of days.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

The windscreen is clean. Washed and wiped it, but still they come on.

be interesting to see if the auto wipers work when it rains.

it's all in the same sensor i think.

So I’ve poured some water over the windscreen and the wipers work. But it seems they just keep wiping after the windscreen is clean.

The lights still stay on as well. 2014 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Dynamic - Causeway Grey

I guess what u need to do is position the rear view mirror in the middle. Position.
Then remove the 2 halves of plastic from the rear of the mirror to expose the sensor.

See if it’s glued on fully.
If it is it probably requires replacement.

So I’ve removed the mirror housing and checked the sensor. Everything seems fine and all connections are good. I’ve noticed that while I place the wiper is auto mode they wipe intermittently. Even if there’s no water on the screen.

Perhaps this is all linked?

New sensor required maybe? 2014 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Dynamic - Causeway Grey

Arh so maybe it knows the sensor is duff and reverts back to intermittent wipers. and lights on.

A new sensors sounds good. I think there is a fuse. (check your owners manual)
You can plug the sensor in without glueing it to the screen and see if auto lights work (with a torch)

So the car has been to Land Rover garage today as it’s covered by extended warranty.

There are no fault codes and sensor seems to be ok, They seem to think the wire is corroded so is not covered by warranty unfortunately.

Not really sure how an internal wire can get corroded? 2014 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Dynamic - Causeway Grey

They can’t find any fault so they won’t do any work.

Will they guarantee it WILL fix it? Sounds a bit of a guess to me. Just a thought, how long have you had it? Has it worked before? Has it got a genuine LR front screen. Heard of lots of issues with after market screens not working with some sensors. Big problem on BMWS. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Ive had it 2.5yrs. No other problems with it before. It was working up
Until about mid last week. It’s not had a replacement windscreen either.

It’s like it’s just stopped over night.

I’m back home next week so will look at the wiring diagrams. Maybe a bad earth at the base of the A pillar. Have you got a sun roof? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
