Do you mean the power tail gate of the 2012MY where the whole tail gate lifts in one piece? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Yes, I mean the power tailgate. I don't exactly know in which MYs it was available, but I thought it came with the 2010 facelift... |

The power tail gate is the 2012MY, you would need a whole new tail gate with the 2 lifters/actuators.

I wouldn't bother. The old split hatch was more useful and more reliable. Press the button and lift. The power tail has a habit of not working properly. Half the time these days I press the button, it unlatches and then I lift it manually - which is hard work as the motors add drag. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thank you for your detailed explanation. I was not aware of the fact, that only the MY2012 has the power tailgate.

A split tailgate is also heaver, so more difficult to power open |

My recollection is that the MY12 one piece tailgate is aluminium so therefore much lighter. I am guessing that the MY12 struts and electric motor may struggle to lift the original two piece steel tailgate. Current: 2020 P400e HSE Dynamic

Horses for courses. Have never had any tailgate probs on my 2012 over 3.5 yrs and 60k miles. Probably famous last words That said if it wasn't fitted I wouldn't bother messing about with a retrofit, but each to their own. I prefer the 2012 on look but with the split functionality. |

I just fitted an aftermarket kit to my 2011 RR sport, works perfectly off both remote and button, fitted in a couple of hours.

So are you saying you fitted a aftermarket kit to convert the two piece tailgate to powerlift operation? I think there may be a few people interested in that if you care to post a link to the supplier.
