Device error

Hi - I have a 2011 rrsport.
My iPhone 6 used to connect to the audio entertainment fine. It all of a sudden I am now getting a device error. Anyone know what could be the root cause of this? Like I say it never used to happen.

Have you tried deleting it from the RRS and deleting the RRS link from the phone and then starting again? Robin

I haven't but it sounds like a great idea?

What do I need to do to do that?

Not so techy

Well I know how to delete it off phone but maybe you can explain what you mean just so I have the full picture.

Hmm - I think I might have been a little optimistic thinking you can easily delete it from the RRS. However what I'd do is:
- on your phone , in settings/Bluetooth, check that you can see the link "LAND ROVER"
- with the RRS switched off it should say Not Connected
- Now turn the RRS ignition on. If all was OK it should change to Connected
- if it doesn't then turn Bluetooth off on your phone
- count to 20
- turn Bluetooth back on
- turn RRS ignition off
- count to 20
- turn RRS ignition on
- Not Connected should change to Connected

If this doesn't work, then the next route is to tell your phone to "Forget this Device"
- In Bluetooth setting on your phone touch the "i" next to LAND ROVER
- Touch Forget This Device
- Switch everything off
- go through the full set up process as if it is a new phone

Hope this helps Robin

Thanks for the detail. When I got up this morning I went out to the the car. Just got in and seen your next message. What I did was forget Bluetooth device switched if etc but still nothing. I changed the name of my iPhone and the rrs console still says device error with the old name.

So I think I need to remove the device off the rrs. Other cars I've had and I am sure it's the same with this, you have a limit as to how many phones you connect, so it makes sense you can also delete old phones right? But either it's a bit knackered! But I cannot see any documents or anything on the internet that tells me how to remove a Bluetooth device from the rrs sport.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think your description is also for removing the rrsport from the iPhone rather than iPhone from rrsport. ? But I. Ugh this be mistaken. Could always pop into my landrover garage down the road I suppose.

Yes, my procedure is for resetting the RRS system on your phone and I agree with you that it isn't obvious how you can remove phones from the RRS system. It does say you can have up to 8 phones but doesn't say what happens if you try to connect a 9th. Logic says if you tried to connect a 9th then the first one connected would be lost but that doesn't seem to be the case for you.

I hesitate to say do a hard reset on your RRS electrical system but that may be the answer. Would seem to be overkill. If you have a local friendly garage it would certainly be worth a chat with them first Robin

Same car as reporter

I found that the issue cleared when I reloaded the apple tunes app which I had deleted a couple of days before. Don't understand why it needed apple tunes on the phone as I don't use it I always use Spotify but it now works Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
