Or consider a pcp on a couple year old one.
I just took out a pcp on an almost 3 year old hse dynamic with 17k for £4.5k deposit and £440 per month. Yeah I’ll not own it but in 2-3 years time I’ll want to change anyway. I’d rather if I were you my £20k sitting in my account or put into something else making me money.
I almost ordered a new SQ5 but when I looked into a used sport to me it was a no brainer. 2015 HSE Dynamic, black, 22’s

Yeah, I get what you're saying about keeping my money to do what I want with and even though the current RRS I've owned for 7.5 years that is rare (last two cars I had a for a year or two).

If I do go the PCP route it will be a 2/3 year old vehicle, likely an SVR if not then an SC.

If I’m in a position to next time it will be an svr. Range Rover is my wife’s and I have an S4 avant for work but might change it for a van next time. 2015 HSE Dynamic, black, 22’s

Just had a quick look at a real-life example; 2015 LR Used Approved SVR with very low mileage, £78K.

Putting down £20K then PCP over 36 months (Alphera Finance) means payments of £750 per month (APR 8.2%).

You'd think after another 3 years a well preserved SVR would still hold decent value so on the surface that looks decent?

As RRSMan mentioned though I guess the haggling for a lower APR is key.

More confused now than when I started but it's a good dilemma to be in ...

That’s who I’m financed with through magnitude. The future value on an svr isn’t much more than mine. My final
Payment is £35k and similar age and mileage svr is £40k. You would think it would have a far greater value in 3 years.
From memory my apr is around 6.9 2015 HSE Dynamic, black, 22’s

That is a little bit of a surprise to be honest, you'd think the differential would be wider but hey ho.

Once I decide which way to go (which could take a while but am going to stay open minded about it) I will bear in mind the APR you mentioned and try and get it low as I can if I take this route.

I’m hoping in 2-3 years I can get figures on an svr I can live with.
Speak with magnitude finance they were easy to deal with and had everything sorted pretty quick for me.

I will speak with Magnitude for sure if I take that route, heard good things about them from others too along with Oracle and some have also managed to get decent deals with Black Horse who are behind JLRFS.

Ha, cheers! I will no doubt end up with even less sleep than usual overthinking it Laughing

Interesting.
Too many people don’t understand what they are signing up to with a pcp. They just see new car and small payments.
I took one as it suits me. I’m well aware of excess mileage charges etc if I was to hand it back. 2015 HSE Dynamic, black, 22’s

There isn't anything in there that isn't possible given the right (wrong) financial situation arising but it does end with the premise that in the UK the worse case scenario is very unlikely!

If you go into it with your eyes open, understand the potential 'extra' costs (excess mileage, repairs etc.) then all is good.

I'm still mulling over which path to take, Plan A is definitely the safer option but Plan B is more exciting!

My last 4 or 5 cars have all been financed with PCP's. I only do about 10k a year and so a PCP works well for me. The cars have usually been worth a couple of grand more than the GFV at the end of the term which then goes towards the next deposit.
And so for all the valid reasons that have been stated I always have PCP's. Thumbs Up 2010 RR 5.0 Autobiography

Cheers PDC for that, food for thought. I probably only do around 5K a year so half your mileage and am now leaning towards a PCP as that way I can enjoy driving a great car knowing I have the flexibility of handing back, retaining or getting another one after a couple of years; something I have never done before as always bought cash (albeit via a personal loan on some occasions).
