It's common in general industry; warranty replaced parts only have the same warranty as the original product. Otherwise you'll could have a never ending warranty - evergreen. I cant see LR wanting that!

Minor update: they are telling me it was diagnosed as a 'bottom end bearing; failure and not taken apart because LR authorised replacement. This seems to be in line with what we expected. Could be sorted by the end of the week. |

What gets me is the 2.7d was fine,no bearing or crank issues, how can they get it so wrong with the 3.0d? What’s changed?? |

hate to say this, but the 2.7 engine also had its bottom end issues. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Always bear in mind who you pay. Generally JLR is one step removed in the 'legal' chain of responsibility for a repair and the quality of the workmanship and hence 'warranty' responsibility.

I don't seem to be talking myself out of it! I'm going to get a 24 hour demo of a 2018 SVR when one is available, so that will probably seal it. Needless to say, the configuration and all financial details have already been worked out to give the correct answer!
