I’m new here and now have my first RR so please accept my apologies if this has been covered previously Embarassed

So.. I have a Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 L320 2005-2013 (mine is 2007). I have been unfortunate to have taken it on with the issues of centre leaking injectors on both sides (just like me to get two). Now I have bought what I believe to have been the right replacement for the job (4H2Q) but have just noticed that there are infact two version for this part (the second being 7H2Q).

On looking at the motor in question, I have found that I have both on the vehicle already. Can anyone please educate me on what type I should have, or if infact, I can have both with no problem?

I have other issues too, which I will post individually in the best interests for referencing. I very much look forward to hearing some suggestions or advice, thanks for reading my post Thumbs Up

If it’s the same as the tdv8 then the different part no’s only dictates what angle the wiring connector points on top of the injector but there is usually enough slack in the wiring either way but it just isn’t as neat and you have to be careful of chafing Clickadeeclick

Hey Sharpy, thanks for the speedy response pal. Yea makes sense to be honest, as there are both on there already. Is there anyway of finding out (without going through RR) to find out which one is the correct variant?

Your engine will have both it just depends on which injector you change will depend on which one you need but as I said the wiring should reach,
On my tdv8 I needed 4 injectors 2 of each part no.s and ordered exactly that but the specialist I ordered them from sent 4 of the same no. and being impatient I fitted them and it’s been fine since  Clickadeeclick

It’s not a very clear photo but you can see the first 2 the wiring connector points a different angle in relation to the fuel pipe than on the other 4 Clickadeeclick

I’ll just have to hope that the cables have enough in them on mine also in order to reach! Is this a fairly easy job to do, or do you recommend a fully trained mechanic should take it on?

Fully trained no but semi skilled yes, it really depends on what your comfortable with cleanliness is fairly important but apart from that you can’t really make anything worse, if you are methodical and know your way around a tool kit and are patient and can follow a manual then there is no reason not to give it a go, you will need a torque wrench that goes down low and it’s important to torque them down correctly, also make sure the old copper washers have come out on the old injectors and you replace those

Thanks for the heads up on the link.

However, I decided to get them changed by a mechanic as I was away and in no rush. I did have two of this type in already (bottom one either side). As you had already pointed out, they are identical other than the electrical connector and the inlet but there is plenty of play to work around this.

It was confirmed both center injectors were leaking as I thought, they have been fitted and work great. So anyone looking for replacements can be assured the code makes little difference than explained above.
