Fault Codes P006A-00 & P1247-00, Restricted Performance

Intermittently, I get a red warning triangle on my dash and a 'Restricted Performance' warning notification and the car goes into 'limp mode'. When I turn the engine off and come back after 5 or 10 minutes, everything is back to normal and the warning notifications and 'limp mode' have gone. During normal driving, the above does not seem not to happen anywhere near as much, but if I drive the car a bit harder ie accelerate harder developing higher revs, it seems to force the car into 'Restricted Performance'.

A diagnostic has given the following fault codes:

P006A-00 / Temporary / Manifold Absolute Pressure - mass or volume air flow correlation &
P1247-00 / Intermittent / Turbocharger boost pressure low

Can anyone advise the likely cause(s) of my problem based on the code reader information and what needs to be done to fix it?

Thanks Col,

Lots of information there. I'm not mechanical so I don't really have any idea what any of that means! Confused Hopefully others on here might be able to interpret it and advise.

What year is the car, the reason for asking is my2010 started with similar fault codes and is currently having its dpf filter removed as it was blocked solid

It's the same as yours, a 2010 3.0 ltr TDV6. How did you determine that it was the DPF that needed to be replaced?

The garage did, it was totally blocked solid. Symptoms of the drive was red triangle intermittently for a week and then total loss of power and a high pitch squeak on the last day

Could be a split boost hose or manifold. Both very common Thumbs Up

Thanks. Are both of these components easily accessible for me to check? Sorry but i'm not that mechanically minded so any pointers as to where both items are located so that I can check them for splits/leaks etc would be appreciated.

Update - The manifold has a split in it Shocked so a new one's been ordered and it's being fitted on Wednesday. Hopefully then, everything should be back to normal.

Further update - The manifold has been changed but I am still getting the same issues. The garage reckons its one of the EGR valves. They've suggested removing it, giving it a good clean and then re-fitting it to see if that sorts it out. Has anyone had any success with cleaning these as opposed to just replacing them?

I've also pm'd Bodsy to see if he wants to blank both EGR's for me.

Can someone educate me please, I have been led to believe that the 3.0ltr TDV6 has vacuum operated EGR valves that are far less of a problem than the electronically activated ones on the 2.7.
My old D3 was easily blanked and that post 2007 2.7's needed a software patch. Do we need a patch/emulator on the 3.0ltr?
Sorry to hi-jack your thread, but it may be helpful to know if faulty EGR's are as common on this engine, and how owners have resolved it.

3.0 cannot blank the EGR, as they are needed as part of the DPF regeneration...

Personally, never seen a faulty 3.0 EGR valve yet...

Ok thanks.

I had a new manifold fitted recently as the old one had a 2" split in it. But the car was still 'juddery' when starting off in lower gears and of a morning, i would get plumes of grey smoke coming out of the back. When I get going the car is still 'juddery' in the lower gears and I will eventually get a red warning triangle on my dash and a 'Restricted Performance' warning notification and the car goes into 'limp mode'. Following this, the car drives better but with little performance. If I then turn the engine off and come back after 5 or 10 minutes, everything is back to normal but then the same cycle is repeated.

If it's not the EGR valve, any ideas what else my problem is most likely to be?

Is it worth getting the EGR removed and cleaning it anyway, just to eliminate that as a possible cause? How long should a garage take to remove, clean and refit one of the EGR's

I've only got a cheapo fault code reader but i've plugged it in and it's come-up with Code P006A which was one of the two codes that I was getting originally. When the garage replaced the manifold, they checked the MAF and said that was ok. Is there anything else that it is likely to be other than the EGR?
