Possibly a good idea for urban dwellers from the point of view of the local environment. However, overall environmental improvement must be negligible as it's motive power is a combination of petrol, petrol-sourced electricity, or mains sourced electricity - which still comprises a lot of gas and some coal and wind power (with it's incumbent massive constructional carbon footprint which will never pay back in it's lifetime). As a country dweller I can't see the point, other than presumably cheaper car tax and the 'touchy feely factor' ("I'm doing my bit for the environment").

Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra Black

Run together you will get much better performance, only reason really for getting hybrid, and save on my Road Tax bill of course. Whistle
Who really gives a dam about the environment, I know I don't, and won't while new trains (diesel), airplanes, lorries etc, out polute everything, a complete waste of time and effort. Smile John

Especially true in the North, where the government has scrapped electrification plans in favour of new (and slower) diesel trains. (I was, of course, being sarcastic about the 'touchy feely' factor).

Hi,

Only just joined up, but this post made me worry,

We have just placed an order for the Autobiography, any idea when these changes will come?

Thanks

The changes will not suddenly make your care dated if it's going to be a MY17, as the external changes are quite small. It's a facelift, rather than a new model. Opinions vary as to when it will be on the road, but someone on here literally asked a LR driver of a disguised MY2018 and he suggested it would be MY18.5, which is still a long way off. Also, have you seen a Velar interior? It's not to everyone's taste and you have to like touch screens. The facelift model will not come with the discounts that you presumably got on your Autobiography either.

However, when did you order your car? Are you sure it's going to be a MY17 anyway (as most dealers, if not all, have now stopped taking orders for MY17).

Have they? I thought there were months left to get a MY17, at least anything coming out the factory before December, possibly later.

We only ordered on Friday 18th august,

We did get a nice little discount, but also didn't want to splash £85k on an old model, but i guess we chose the car based on the MY17,

Yes, there's plenty of MY17's around to buy, but not new factory orders. In other words, you'd have to get one 'off the shelf' now.

If you got a big discount, I presume it is a MY17. It seems late to get a factory order, but maybe the dealer had a slot available (maybe a cancelled order prior to the order becoming fixed, assuming you got a choice of spec.).

Yes we were in a dealers last Friday and were told the factory order book was closed for my17 so we would need to take one from run out unallocated stock, we wanted an AB with stealth pack & a few extras, only one available on the system in a light colour that had what we wanted but it was allocated, decided to wait now until my18 unless one of the dealers I discussed terms with manages to find me what I want in September at the right price of course!

Also always keep an eye open on the New/Used LR car lists, but your dealer should have access to that. Whistle John

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I had an email from a dealership this week offering up to £4000 LR contribution to a new car, 5 years servicing agreement for free, free wheel and tyre insurance and a couple of other things thrown in against an order for a MY2017. Pity that they don't up the subs for the Incontrol up from 3 to 5 years as well if you take out the service agreement, if you keep the car serviced within the network and they have issued 5 years servicing why not throw in the top-up Incontrol fee up to 5 years too?
I'm not in the market for a 2017MY car unfortunately, my current one has to last now until next spring at least and maybe I will make it go until 2019 when all the quality and reliability issues with the next generation PHEV and iPace are ironed out. I've bought too many new model cars from LR that have had all sorts of call backs to fix software issues and quality problems that cars at this price level should not suffer from.
Also if current Defender values continue to skyrocket my 90 will be worth more than my RRS and I can chop that in against something ! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I presume this is an existing car or order they're offering, with a pre-designated spec.?

As a matter of interest, what is the on-going cost of In-Control after three years, my dealer didn't know when I asked?
