It was in the wrong section. While the topic is interesting (to me at least), Velar isn't L494. The mod was already waiting to see if a Velar specific sub-section was on its way so it could be moved there instead of the general off-topic "all other cars". Since that wasn't happening, it was moved where it is now. We will continue posting in it which should keep it in the recently updated topics list for all those who are interested but without incorrectly giving the impression that it was about L494. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Another thing i noticed was that the Velar seems to have small Brakes where as the RRS ABDynamic has a nice set of Brembos at 380 front vs single calliper 350 front velar. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black. |

380 brakes are an extra cost option on some models.

Why not just keep the RRS? It's only 2 years old!

Are ok another option i must have not seen then. Also Tim yet another option to make it the same spec as The RRS and getting more and more expensive.

Can you sell a slot, like runway take-off slots? If so, I hereby offer Tim a Bacon Buttie at the first Scottish Green Road Club meet that we both attend for his.

Yes both Tim and I have slots one and two at the same dealers. I am picking up my MY17 RRS next week from them too. The Velar is not due to be delivered until at least August so I'll enjoy the AB for 6 months and then decide if I get the Velar or not. I went for the 3.0d HSE Dynamic and my car is spec'd to £78k. Played on the configurator all weekend and the story is the same as an RRS in terms of residual values on finance. The higher specs have higher retained value so make more sense if one is financing as the monthly payments are just a tad bit higher than a much lower spec car (engine or model line or spec).

You cannot buy and sell slots, it's just I got there about 2 minutes before RRSMan and put down an expression of interest deposit of £500 that is fully refundable or I can use it to put on another car. I am happy to keep the RRS, I run 2 cars and want to reduce to one, RRS is very capable on and off road. I have plenty of time to cogitate over the choice of next car - D5 is also in the running as a winch can be fitted to that but not to L494 RRS, and while one isn't strictly necessary for the offroad stuff I do now it is a very useful piece of kit to have. My Defender's winch challenge type drives are over now but it is still getting plenty of use on Green Road Training days pulling folks out of sticky bogs they have ventured into and giving winch training lessons and on Green road runs we still get the odd driver that has a magnetic attraction to ditches and ending up with their D4 or FFRR in the situation where no amount of terrain response assistance will get it out. You would also be amazed how many owners of powerful front wheel drive cars get stuck at the local beach trying to pull a way too heavy speed boat out of the water and forget that weight transfers off the front wheels when you put a heavy load on the back.............. and I get a call from the rangers on the beach asking if I can come and help recover a boat on a trailer from the water because the owner cannot drive far enough in to recover it without drowning the back of the car or the front ends up on weed and slime with no grip. I would feel naked in a car without a winch now 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I think I might have passed away before Land Rover finally (if ever) gets round to launching a Defender replacement - they are winding us up saying they are developing a replacement for it to stop people defecting to Land Cruisers and cheap Japanese pickup trucks................ they only sold 20,000 a year at the peak of sales, that doesn't justify building a new one these days unfortunately. It is the longest I have ever kept a car, it is 21 this year and I bought when it was 6 years old and had 54000 miles on the clock, it now has 87000 miles on it so it doesn't work hard. It also has never failed me in all those years, even when I ran it for the best part of 100 miles with no oil in the transfer box............. the transfer box kept going until I arrived at the indies who look after it for me but I had by then done terminal damage to it so a new box was required. It's never failed to start and has given years of really quite cheap entertainment because it costs very little relative to it's newer stable mates to service and repair. New transfer box was £650 fitted (it was new not a recon job too) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yes, it is with James at Lookers West London The laser lights only work on high beam so IMHO it's a waste of money as the normal LED/Xenon High Beam seems good enough for me. It's not something I would spec unless circa £300. My Optional Extras Spec is as follows: HSE D300 3.0 litre V6 300PS Twin Turbocharged Diesel Fuji White 22" Style 9007 Wheels (same as on all adverts) but these are bloody expensive so if someone can confirm RRS/FFRR wheels fit the Velar I will delete this option an buy a set off ebay! Black Contrast Roof Sliding Pan Roof Privacy Glass R-Dynamic Black Pack Eclipse/Ebony Interior - this is what made me upgrade to the Highest Spec - this leather is brilliant (Gone with a dark blue leather that IMHO looks classy as !) 20 Way seats with Cooling and Heated Front and Heated Rear Heated Steering Wheel Meridian Upgraded Sound Spare Wheel Configurable Dynamics (I think this may be an error as this should be standard on this model) Surround Camera System Ambient Mood Lighting |
